i downloaded the latest firmware from the TP Link website.
how do i go about sending / updating the router ?

thanks

What's the procedure to update firmware ?

I followed the instructions and even uploaded the ".bin" file for the modem so it picks up modem.

Now do I run the updated firmware ?
It asks to save current setting before updating firmware but I dont see what settings to write down.

Any help will be appreciated

if you've made a lot of settings on the router, you can back it up if you want to save some time, otherwise just load the mr3420v1_en_3_12_19_up(110617).bin file as requested under "System Tools", "Firmware Upgrade" and wait for it to reboot - that's it!

I updated firmware - rebooted. Device pics up the hotspot but no internet @ all.
How do I get the E173 to pick up hspa network when its plugged into the TP Link ?

I'm in a area that's got 8ta HSPA netwrok coz if I connect the modem to laptop it connect on 8ta hspa nEtwork.

router should pick up Huawei E173 - does it recognise your usb modem? remember that it can take a couple of minutes to recognise the modem...

It picks up the modem and even shows the signal strength, but just says connecting and nothing happens.

Ip address dns etc all is set to dhcp

under Network/3G make sure your settings are:
set dial number: manually
Dial number *99#
APN: internet
Username:
Password:
Connection mode: automatically
max idels time: 0
Authentication: Auto

and then Save and restart the router

Thanks a million Bundu. Did the above and it's working.
What's the QSS button ?

I mean if I search with a device it will pick up the tp link and 3G connection so what's different with the QSS button ?

glad you're sorted!
I disabled my QSS (Quick Secure Setup), as I prefer to be away from the router and rather type in the PSK password on the device that I want to link to the router.

You should now perhaps make a System Tools/Backup&Restore of your working settings, in case you need to reset or update the router at a later stage

Will definitely do that.
2.4MBps speeds and I'm the room furthest away from router.
