Hello all,

I've been looking to get my wellpoint pump off a timer (which I have to program in addition to the Hunter Controller), so I went down to the local irrigation supply store and the sold me a relay (pictured in the image below..)

My question is how on earth do I wire this thing up?

Remember, I have the following:
- Common Wire and Pump control wire from Irrigation controller - (24V)
- Live, Neutral & earth from wall socket (230 VAC)
- Live, Neutral & earth to pump.

Any thoughts?

Or should I get an electrician in, if so can anyone recommend one in CT Southern Suburbs?

From the info you have shared it doesn't look like a complicated relay.

Watch a couple of videos on YouTube on relay wiring and to understand the terms, ie normally open vs closed.

be careful working with 220v

A relay is used to switch high power circuits using low power circuits. In your case, the high power circuit is 230Vac, 10A.

If the irrigation controller is 24VDC, you will need a separate power supply (ie. step down transformer) to power the low power circuit. The 24Vac cannot run off mains power.

How do you want the pump to operate?
What are the pump ratings? (power, voltage, phases, current etc)

Hi forgot to update this thread, believe it or not, I managed to wire up the relay. :)

Irrigation controller goes into 10 (common) & 2 (pump), live from outlet goes into 1 and 3 goes to the pump.

It's working great (but I don't need it cause it's been raining in the Cape)
