Please help this noob - I'm fairly handy with general electrical and very basic electronics, but I'd really appreciate some assistance before I liberate the magic smoke.

I want to wire this B16930A switch as per the image below, but I don't understand the diagram.

Using my DMM I get continuity between 1&2 and 3&4 when the switch is depressed. I assume then that I should wire as follows:

Live in to #1
Neutral in to #3
Live out from #2
Neutral out from #4

Can someone on the forum please confirm this?

EDIT: This post has been edited from the original to reflect correct terminal numbers.

How do you want to use this switch? Looks like it will switch two circuits on when pressed, so yes you are correct with your wiring scheme

I'm just switching a power supply (240VAC to 24VDC). With other switches, I usually just break the live, but with this one being illuminated I guess I have to wire in both live and neutral, in order to power the LED or whatever is providing the light in the switch.

You wire it like any SPST switch, just discard one pair of contact. A DPST is design to switch two circuits at the same time.
Do what you always do and just break the LIVE using one one pair of contacts only. Just verify with a multimeter that the remaining contacts are dead for safety sake.
The switch will only illuminated when current is flowing through it, remember you are completing the circuit when depressing the switch.

DO NOT DO THIS as you will be shorting live to neutral based on the diagram you supplied.

You need to wire both live and neutral (you can switch them both with dpst) if you want the indicator to work.

Ok in that case then I'm reading the diagram wrong wrt 1/3 & 2/4 being connected

Sorry guys, my blunder.

I just checked the switch again - with a magnifier this time.

The switch has continuity between 1&2 and 3&4 when depressed. I've edited the OP accordingly.
