Virgin will debit my account on the 23rd of December this year. Last year it was the 17th of December. The papers I signed say debit should be on the 1st of the Month, after I get paid.

Why is Virgin STEALING MY CHRISTMAS.
 
My dear, there is always a reason why somebody wants to get them self angry and spoil his/her Xmas in moaning about nothing. Should have made not so many unnecessary calls, so you don't dread the arrival of bills.

Actually, its bloody annoying that all these providers bill early - there's no reason too...

Agreed. It's a complete cop out. In some respects it reflects their incompetence to budget correctly and/or their low respect toward their customers. Perhaps it is also an element of greed? Either way, there isn't much justification.

WRONG! Only the GRINCH steals Christmas! And Virgin aint' green! :twisted:
 
I'm just going to guess here, but like almost everyone else you probably get paid early in December?

Regardless of that how selfish can you be? Are you honestly expecting that every providers admin staff work through Christmas etc. so that you can be billed a few days later?

They bill on the 23rd because the people doing the billing want to spend a few days at home with their family over the Christmas period just like you
 
Its a debit order, you're telling me it can only be setup on a certain date? ... and no, I don't get paid early.

Do you really think any of these providers will go out of their way to help a client who needs to move a debit order later on a specific month? No.

I once had to cancel my Discovery Health insurance because they couldn't move the debit order from the 1st of the month - and my new company only paid me on the 5th... bare in mind at this stage I was earning R3500 a month, and did not have +-R800 on the 1st.
 
Unfortunately Debit orders do not happen by magick, The company needs to send the debit orders to the bank each month, and they can only send them +- 3 days before they are due to be paid. that is also why most businesses have specific debit order days. And why they usually can only change your debit order date with enough advance notice.

To be fair if it takes about 2 days to prepare a Debit Order File/Tape and it has to be submitted +- 3 days before payment it means that someone will have to work through Christmas and new year. for 1 Jan Payments.
 
Well unfortunately that's tough... not all people believe in Christmas, so not everyone needs to be on leave... and I've never seen anyone giving a damn when I've had to work over Christmas.

Yeh... I don't see anyone complaining about all the retail workers open over Christmas...or even on Christmas (places like Canal Walk)
 
Is there anything that can be done to stop them. I tried calling them last year and I was ignored. Unfortunately I cannot get a better deal with another provider. I do not have to take a phone with this contract so that overhead is off my bill.
