Ok, so I'm moving on the 15th of next month.

So this afternoon I went to the telkom store in Rosebank to cancel my residential lines and re-apply for the new property.

Surprisingly the man I spoke to seemed competent. He advised me to wait until the lines are installed (under two weeks, which suits me fine) and then call and apply for one of the lines to be converted to ADSL. (3 - 4 days). Apparently this method results in quicker installation time than simply applying for an ADSL line up front. How is this logical?

Also, he said he won't be charging the R 700 odd installation fee for the two lines, and if I ask for self install I want pay the R 400 odd. This seems to be pretty good.

I guess I'm going to have to wait and see what they deliver, and when.

AFAIK self install isn't available any longer, I may be wrong ;)

They don't give out free modems anymore, but you don't pay the R 400+ DSL installation fee if you opt for self install. This is what I gathered from what they told me.

Yip, must be, now it makes sense ;)
