Where does these salaries come from? Tech Support = R300k?? with a diploma?? Really?? Wow some amazing company these people work for. :wtf:
 
Nice. While this is fairly common knowledge, seeing it graphically always makes a person feel warm and fuzzy
 
Despite the ppl who will soon post here that those salaries seem low, they are once again extremely far removed from the reality in SA.

This is not an opinion, it is a fact.

The only fact here is that the average yearly wage in SA is $31,702 (PPP).
Everyone's personal yearly wage (Whether higher or lower) is their own personal reality

No way those ZA numbers are right...

Eg compare ZA vs GB... About the same on the graph. Yet from experience I know GB salaries are about 50% higher on a pure Fx conversion.

It is not a pure FX conversion. It uses proper PPP

Depends what is meant by "tech support" though. "Tech support" is such a vague term that it could range all the way from some pimply faced 20-something working on some ISP's helpdesk earning R5000 per month to a SAP engineer earning over a million a year.
 
Hmmm, the maths seems a bit off. Looking at the international average salary of $19,188, that would be approximately R230,000 so therefore the percentage difference in comparison to the world average should be lower, not higher than the comparison against local currency.
With the figures the way they are, it would require an exchange rate of R5.50/$. I know we get paid fairly well in world terms, but I know we are nowhere near Australia at the moment. Maybe this would explain it.
