Hey there,

Has anyone tried this on iburst? whats it like? latency, quality etc?

i tried it about a month ago with a friend in England. Skype to Skype. Also phoned another friend in scotland and wasnt bad at all. I dont really use Skype that often cuz of the cap... although it doesn't really chew too much bandwidth i find msn is a better low bandwidth option at the moment.

lately with the iburst network as it is i wouldnt even try it on Skype out...

overall latency is about a 1 - 2 second delay with people. both times i have used Skype on iburst i have found the qaulity good.

I use Skype almost on a daily basis. Conference calls to Paris mostly, in the region of 30-60 minutes per call, with no problems/hickups whatsoever, and crystal clear

Well it works some how...sometimes just disconnects...Its better when using skype on skype but if you would like to call someone on normal line than is a bit criple...but yeah it works ok...not bad!

Some people tell me it doesn't work. Haven't tried it though. Methinks the MTU is to blame

Skype works very well - converence calles 2 friends last night. Cape town & Pretoria. Was on about 2 hours with no problems.

I haven't tried it while capped. Anybody tested it on the throttled line?

yepp, its kinda like skype on dial up then, you lose a bit of the voice quality but its still fine

Well when i`m capped i dont even want to connect on skype coz i know what i can expect:P

Yea Mark i phone NZ practically everyday on the dual phone, quite an amazing thing to wander around the garden chatting to friends in NZ costing 1/3 of what it would cost to phone my neighbors 40m away.

Hi,

I am not capped and have had good calls (Skype-to-Skype) but in the past 3 weeks all of my calls have been a nightmare - I speak to the US and I the quality of the voice received is great but on their end it is bad - like they have to wait for my reply for a couple of minutes (yes, minutes!). These problems make me just quit it.
I will be giving it a try now that WBS supplied me with an antenna (though it doesn't help the speed much esp. during the day) and will be hoping it works.
By the way, apparently I connect to the Northcliff tower. Seems like speeds depend on your location.
