Just thought we should discuss this in another thread.

Question was:<blockquote id="quote"><font size="1" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica" id="quote">quote:<hr height="1" noshade id="quote"><i>Originally posted by poweruser</i>
<br />Can anyone help me with the setup of the Adsl Router Pots from telkom.

Mine is setup and work fine but I would like to use the advanced features.

For instance:
Under the basic config menu there is an ISP menu where you can enter 4 different isp usernames. I can't figure out the use of it. There is nowhere that I can just switch between them as I please. I have to physically go and change the details in the quick setup.

Then on the sub interface menu you can use these different isp again??

Anyone with a clue?

I found that exact section you're referring to there, the ISP configuration, to be very difficult to understand. There isn't really a way to set which of the accounts listed should be used at any particular time.

I wouldn't suggest using it, until you're 100% sure of what it does?

Thanks Vie

What are the different uses for these? I used the first one and could connect to the internet from different pc's with different isp dailup accounts. I had 'n problem with routing differnet pc through one the pc's with the dailup account.

I am using the last one currently. I am looking for a way to route different users on my lan through different isp account. some through the capped and local access and others through uncapped for international access using the same router and adsl line. I am currently having to use 3 to 4 isp account to get through the month and was hoping to use one account with the most traffic for e-mails and local traffic and not caring if it gets capped and then the other for selective users heavy on intnl bandwith.

Thanks to anybody that can help

Forcing particular users (computers) on your network to use specific dialup accounts, I'm pretty this can't actually be done.

I'll try and fiddle around at work on monday (have a Marconi router there), and will let you know if I can dig anything up.

Do not use this as a router!
See my post here http://www.myadsl.co.za/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=266&whichpage=2 about it.
No really go see.

"Marconi" router/modems do not function well as routers.

I would suggest using it as a PPPoE device and just having multiple dialup accounts for it.
To use it as a PPPoE device you have to restore factory defaults by hitting the reset button on the bottom.
Then set up your PPPoE software. Windows XP should have it pre-installed.

Good luck.
