Good morning.

I just need some direction and I think here on this forum is a good place to start. I need to setup a VPN between two places.
1. Both ADSL Routers are Netgear DG834G with the VPN Wizards.
2. Both machines have Win XP Prof in stalled and have networks installed on it called "kantoor".

Where can I get more information on how to set up this VPN between the 2 routers/networks.

Thank you so long.

Regards,
Deon

Unless you have a static IP address, the first thing you need to do is work around the dynamic IP address you are being assigned. Look at dyndns.org for a way.

Then you will need to look at the firewall settings on your routers and on your PC.

Then you will need to establish a VPN connection from the PC by going into Network connections and creating a new connection by running the wizard and choosing the VPN option.

Hope this helps.

Thanx for your prompt reply.

The first 2 points I have already done and I can get remotely onto both routers ... but for the moment this is it.
I have also already run the VPN wizards on both routers.

I am busy studying Netgear's documentation on this, but it does not feel as if I am getting somewhere.
I will really appreciate any direction from anyone.

1. Go to DYNDS or NO-IP and get yourself two accounts(Names) eg. test.no-ip.org
2. Enter all the DDNS info into the routers.
3. The routers must be on different ranges eg 192.168.1.254 and 192.168.2.254
4. Enter the details in the VPN option of the router.

This should get you going.
Use IPSEC for VPN connection.

Wow, the VPN between the 2 routers is connected. How do I go by to have the PC's at both ends part of the same network?
