HP 530 Intel T2400

Hey!

My girlfriend bought a new laptop, the HP 530 Centrino Core Duo, 1GB Ram etc etc laptop.

It came preloaded with Windows Vista Home Basic, she says she would prefer Windows XP Pro for like a billion different reasons, also hopes World of Warcraft may run better.

I put the Windows XP cd into the drive and the first step before the Windows Setup actually loads it gives me a blue screen.

Any advise, I don't have the laptop with me right now, but I can get the exact error if needed.

I saw HP has all the Windows XP drivers for the HP 530 on their site so I imagine it should work with Windows XP?

get virtual pc,the latest version for your gf,there are many ways to skin a cat..

Howzit Mr G,

In my opinion - don't try install XP whilst having Vista on. There is a way to install a dual boot (very complicated - replacing boot.ini in a specific order etc etc), I'll get you a link to instructions for it tho).

Rather store all her current info on external HDD, format and then install XP.

My 2c worth.

I booted from the cd before Windows Vista launched? Do you still think I should wipe the drive first, I cant personally see why that should have made a difference for the XP Setup crashing?

You know that section where it prepares the setup, loading drivers or whatever, just before the format screen comes up in the Windows XP Pre Setup, it gives a blue screen just before that.
