HP 8610 replacement cartridges

It's time to replace the ink cartridges of my HP 8610. It uses 950XL (black) and 951XL (colour) cartridges.

Original cartridges go for R2199 at Makro or R2166 at Takealot (which is more than the R1999 I paid for the printer).

Generics go for about R680 at Takealot (from either Ink Station or PrintSaver).

Anyone have experience with using generic cartridges in a HP 8610? Any experience with either of the generic brands from Takealot?

Or do generics cause problems and I'd be better off getting the originals?

Generics should be fine, really wish printer ink wasn't the most expensive liquid. My replacement carts went up R200 for my canon and they don't even last that long.
