HP LP2480zx (widescreen) has a 24 inch 6 ms (g2g) S-IPS panel.
Tftcentral:
24"WS LG.Display A-TW H-IPS (LM240WU5)

HP LP2475W
Flatpanels:
HP LP2475w (widescreen) has a 24 inch 6 ms (g2g) H-IPS (LM240WU4) panel.

The panels are very similar, so I'm not sure if the LP2480zx warrants the extra R10k for the Dreamcolor addons. I'll wait until the serious guys like Prad do a review.

I'm using an older HP LP2465 for editing and its colours are stunning.
 
I'm quite happy with my HP 2465 - best LCD monitor I have ever purchased. Have bought others like Samsung and LG which are bigger, but rubbish in comparison.

Maybe I'll try the 3065 next, but the dreamcolor seems to be a waste - too much extra money for too little benefit - there's nothing wrong with the colour on a 2465 in Photoshop.
 
The HP models you describe, like my Dell are no doubt 8 bit panels. My ancient 19inch HP and my current Dell are 8 bit but the stuff sold at Incredible Corruption nowadays - Samsungs are TN based 6bit+DiFrc Panels (6 bit plus dithering). This panel however - the Dreamcolor, uses a full 10bit (Iliyama/Eizo/NEC like) panel and is capable of showing 1 billion shades of colour.
This is also something which is advertised in high end HDTVs - eg Pioneer Kuro models or top end Sony Bravias - ie 10 bit panels although I wonder how true that is, as also is the HDMI
BluRay source capable of displaying 10 bit colour? According to the review posted above, virtually no comsumer gfx cards are capable of 10bit colourspace. You prolly have to go ATI FireGL or
NVidia Quadro or better. The high end Sony Bravia model HDTVs with '10bit' panels are probably 8 bit plus dithering or else they'd make great monitors because at 40 inches they are cheaper
than this 'cheapo' 10 bit 24 inch panel.

Any recommendations to non TN panel LCDs that are currently available in SA. I am having a hard time finding any at a reasonable price. Not overly worried about size of screen, just want a decent screen.

Find a cheapo HP L1955 - it's an 8 bit MVA panel. I have this one.

If you can get a 30 inch DELL WFP-HC panel, those are S-IPS panels
at 8ms and fully 8bit. I have this one too, beautiful screen.

Have no idea, and I've been unable to find any detailed specs on the panel itself, other than it's made by LG. The only 10-bit panels I've been able to find are the Samsung panels used in some Sony Bravia TVs (and of course some of Samsung's newer TVs too).

Anyway, can the current video cards handle 10-bits or is it just juggling done by the monitor itself?
 
Going for the Lenovo L220X which I have found locally at a good price, just waiting for stock to come in -- the store said it would take 2-3 weeks.

It was a major bloomin search though to find a non Tn screen at a decent price.
