I had this SSD in my previous HP N40L which died the other day - so bought a new Gen8 and swapping the internals.

However, I boot up Windows via USB to install and says nothing detected. I thought maybe the drive died with the old server, but it works on my other PC.

Anyone know what it could be?
A setting in BIOS?

Are you using the B120i? If you are, you need to load the drivers onto th usb in order for you to pick up the hard drives.

I don't know what model it is - it was the Gen 8 at Esquire the other day.

There was a setting in BIOS about enable AHCI and now it reads it :)

That is one way, you can also use the on board raid controller.
