I have this notebook with a single HDMI out.

If I wanted to connect two monitors, simple as using a splitter as below?

No this will not work, you will display the same screen on both monitors. Check the specs sheet of your laptop, if it has a usb type c with display output the get one like this https://www.takealot.com/nxtech-hom...lti-function-adapter-hdmi-usb-3-/PLID71111133

Oh you're right - it does .

Sorry - my Lenovo notebook with USB-C was also the charging port - so I glanced over at this HP charger and saw it wasn't USB-C charging and assumed it didn't have

Ok - so that makes life much easier then !

Given the specs say the USB-C on that model is a Displayport + PD you could connect a USB-C hub with multiple display-out ports and go to town
