Hi

I have a new Probook 4740s that my work purchased for me and I was excited as my other laptop is over 7 years old.

But that excitement went away when I tried to play Dota 2. I have the latest drivers and updates for Windows 8 and all HP hardware. I haven't install any generic drivers from AMD for the HD7650M.

I have tried doing the LEshcat driver way and that somehow ended up breaking my office 2013 so I had to try fix that and gave and just did a fresh install of my whole pc. So currently I am running with a stock standard HP Probook 4740s and want to know how to make Dota 2 run on this machine?

What I don't understand is that Saints Row 4 runs without a hitch and Team Fortress 2.

Any suggestions?

You haven't provided a single piece of clue what the actual problem is (Wont start, crashes after valve video,no sound, etc.)

So I would say get a better laptop then.:p

That is true. Silly old me.

It launches, the sound plays but not the video, I can just see the desktop. The dota 2 icon is on the taskbar but clicking on it has no effect.

Have you tried attaching an external monitor? Could be that it doesn't pick up the correct resolution.

Or you could also try using the game in windowed mode, set launch properties to -windowed

You can also passthrough other parameters so that the intro video wont play and the animated backround can be switched off.Tons say it improves the games main menu when its off.
