Hi,

I need to add a 2.5 drive for a prodesk 400 G6,
the inside does not have caddy/case/cable or anything to add the drive (just the space), what do i need to buy in order to install an internal hard drive, and where from?

thanks.

ok i can see some cables, are they all the same or does it have to be specific?

First make sure there is a spare SATA port on the motherboard and a spare sata power plug on the PSU.

If both are available you just need a SATA cable and a 3.5" to 2.5" bracket like this one.

thanks, but i am still not sure where to find this cable in south africa.
any idea if something like this will work?
or is it a proprietary cable for HP.

I wouldn't take the chance on one that 'might' fit. If you happen to get one that crosses the + and ground lines, you could fry the drive or possibly your board.

This is probably what you are looking for:

Is there an M2 slot under the 2.5" SSD? My HP Prodesk 600 G3 Mini has it. There's 2 slots, 1 has the WiFi module in it

I have the 400 G6 and yet you can slot a smaller slower drive in the WiFi slot if you meet the standard.
