You don't need extra ram.

Where did you get that quote from? Is it a bundle you are purchasing or doing it separately? When I bought mine it cost me R1600 for the N40L, 4gig RAM and wireless receiver (but then again that's when the N40L was on special at Esquire) and I already had a graphics card and HDD's I was going to install.

I downloaded the Esquire price list ...

It's all separate. Think they'll give me a discount if a I 'bundle' it?

I was told a GT510 - but they don't have one ...

You don't need extra ram.

That is the same card as the GT520, which I reckon is the minimum card to get if you want to future-proof your media server.

The GT210 will do for now, but for ~R100 odd extra, it supports a newer revision of HDMI, and to my eye gives better playback.

RAM is not important unless you plan to use ZFS, in which case that is a bonus.

The gt210 is underpowered and sukkels with 1080p vids. I had to get something more powerful and got a 5450 from a buddy.

I totally disagree with that. I am currently running a GT210 (512mb) and can playback full 1080p 3D Blu-Ray rips perfectly without any problems at all.

Strange, I had serious issues with lag with the gt210. I still have the card and anyone who wants it can have it if you toss in a dozen beers.

Did you make sure your settings were correct? I know at first I had problems with lag but you need to enable hardware acceleration and all works perfectly.

I love these cards, so cheap and they perfect video playback and general desktop/office use. I would take it off your hands for you if it wasn't already so cheap just to get a new one :D

What software you running on your Microserver anyway? Could have been a software setting like weelzSA mentioned.

Well here's the thing. I run win 7 64 and basically my TV is also being operated as a 3rd PC in my lounge so Linux or anything else is out. I have enabled hardware acceleration and still get the same problem. I am now wondering if the card is not faulty. In which case scrap the whole bring me beer and you can have the card thing as I might just be giving away a dud. The moment I installed a more powerful card my problems were solved.

Hi guys ...

Will this fit in an HP microserver?

http://www.cybernatic.co.za/product_info.php?cPath=170_179&products_id=1223

My company has given me R5,000.00 which he'll EFT for whatever I want - but only one shop. After the the server itself, graphic card, an extra 2GB module and two HDDs ... it leaves me with R312.00 to spend.

Perfect if they had an IR receiver - but they don't. Instead of losing it, I may as well as more RAM or something
