HP ProLiant MicroServer

For R700 and 4 years of solid service the microserver served me well but the 2k replacement cost of the PSU and the trouble getting the it, looks like it's time to send mines off to retirement...

Where in JHB are you. I have an N36l with a blown mobo. Think the PSU is still good though. You're welcome to have the PSU if you can collect from the Florida North area during weekdays. PM me.

Put it on Gumtree for a few hundred bucks. Sold my case/PSU for R300, you'd be surprised how many people are looking for spare parts for these.

Anyone running openelec 4 yet? Just wondering if I should go with i386 or x64 build. Original guide I used suggested i386 for HPMS for openelec 3.

I'm having serious thoughts about migrating from openelec to windows :/
I hate it, but i want netflix.

Just upgraded from 3.2.4 i386 to 4.0.6 x86_64. Only issue was audio output that needed to be toggled in the settings. For some reason I have 2 HDMI out options on my nVidia card.

I have an issue with stretched display on my Samsung TV when I upgraded to 4, apparently it's common with Samsung TV's. Need to invest some time to sort it over the weekend, in the mean time I popped the 3 stick back in to carry me through.

Finally Some good news out of HP Europe a few minutes ago

We should be getting in a batch of HP Proliant N54L with 250gb HDD in the next few days – I cannot quote pricing but it going to be a very-very good deal , much better priced then they currently are , we were hoping to get the 1000 units we have on backorder but that is not going to happen but it will be a substantial amount – will give you more feedback as soon as they arrive

Is any IR receiver compatible with the N45L or does it have to be HP branded? (as far as the receiver goes anyway)

EDIT: I think I'll be going with a Windows and Plex server option.
