Any issues with Bluray? My desktop with Windows 8 had so many issues playing Bluray discs. Now, with Windows 7 its perfect.

Howsit guys!

I have just taken my first steps into the whole XBMC world :D

I've just set up an N54L with an HD5450 and I'm running OpenElec. I have also installed the XBMC HubWizard. The main thing for me to do now is make sure all my media is correctly sorted so that it can all be scraped correctly.

This is where my question comes in and please excuse me if it's been asked a hundred times. I've been doing a whole lot of reading and it's the one thing I'm not too sure about yet...

Basically I want to 'import'/stream over the network all the movies & series that are on my external HDD which is connected to my main PC. I know it shouldn't be too hard to 'show' XBMC where the files are and play the videos over the network but I've confused myself to no end!

I keep reading about Samba and SSH but I'm not sure what I'm doing since I'm a complete noob to linux. Surely it's quite easy? My PC is running Windows 7. Any assistance will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Remy

Can I please get confirmation from someone who has installed one of those GT210 graphics cards in a n45l and succrssfully used PLEX media centre to play movies with sound through a hdmi cable and without any sound card?

GT210 and PLEX working perfectly for over a year now - I have the HP N40L tho (the one just before your one).

I'm picking up a new 1TB HDD in a few minutes from Esquire and tonight I want to move all the multimedia content over to that HDD from my standard 250GB HDD in the N54L.

Does that mean I will have to re-update the library all over again? Like download artwork, plots etc. all again? Or will that data be moved over automatically when I move the multimedia from one HDD to another?

If not? Is there something I can do to preserve all the data?

I know I will have to re-add the source inside XBMC but would prefer not to lose all the info.

Running Win7

Anyone successfully installed Windows 8.1 on the HP?

Widely reported issue on all the HP microservers. It installs fine, as long as you have the onboard LAN disabled in the BIOS, otherwise it stalls on both installation and boot. Last I checked the latest drivers you can dig up on HP's support sites allows the microserver to boot, but doesn't actually lead to any throughput on the interface.

I gave up; I just stuck a 300mbps TP-Link wifi dongle on the back of the thing.

Hi Guys

I hope you can help.

Running XMBC on Win7 and encountered a problem where a few of my movies are unwatchable because of lagging. It is only a select few movies out of my whole collection.
I thought it might have been the files itself being corrupt or damaged but it works 100% via Win 7 and through my Win 8 laptop. Also through my DVD player capable of playing Xvid.

I have read up on the XBMC Forums and they attribute it to audio problems. I did all as explained in those threads but it still does not work.

Any help or advice would be appreciated. Would not like to re-download the movies and then the problem persist.

I made 2 short clips to show the problem. Both these movies were downloaded on the same day.

First clip - Despicable Me 2 - Lagging : https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/94686098/VID_20131110_104727.mp4

Second clip - Man of Steel - Playing perfect : https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/94686098/VID_20131110_104755.mp4

Do have hardware acceleration enable in xmbc ?

Please list your hardware specs ?

Yes Hardware acc is enabled.

HP N54L with extra 2GB RAM (4gb total), ATI Radeon HD5450 1GB Graphics Card, Seagate 1TB HDD

All media is stored on the 1TB HDD. Win7 and XMBC installed on the 250GB that came with the server.

Screenshot of your settings? Man of Steel is 2.0 and Despicable Me 2 is 5.1 and that is clearly the problem.

Can you tell that I am a noob? :D

Thanks for pointing that out.

Unfortunately we have a power outage now and I am posting this from Tapatalk so can't go and check the settings now.

Any quick fixes to this in settings? I assume I can force everything to be played as 2.0 somewhere in there?

Has anyone experience the BSOD error: the BIOS in this system is not fully ACPI compliant: Please contact your vendor' ?

Just happened now all or a sudden. No new hardware of software added. I checked HP's site - but couldn't find anything. Google led to me to a few sites suggesting i flash my BIOS with some Russian version. Lol. I think not.

My baby only a few days old :(

Anyone?

Update: so I reinstalled Windows. No more BSOD. Until i went online to enter my Windows product key. Now the same issue is back again.

Never heard of that but if you're gonna flash a different bios try the modified bios: http://homeservershow.com/hp-proliant-n40l-microserver-build-and-bios-modification-revisited.html
