HP ProLiant MicroServer

Usually when using a graphics card onboard vga is disabled.

Does your graphics card not have vga?

It has HDMI and that white port, not blue like the normal vga. It had a blue vga port but I had to remove it to fit the card. The card is HD5450

Thanks. Was hoping it might just be a driver update but will go and buy an adaptor like that.

Make sure the Dvi port has the VGA pins it's the four pins with the big flat pin across on the left not all dvi port has them

The white port is DVI. Does your monitor not have a DVI port? Otherwise use a pair of pliers to remove the DVI port from the card, and then replace the DVI with the VGA port.

Can get convertor cables made. Cost R160 and probably less. Let me know and I can get in centurion pretoria. But sure other cable shops do it.

Tried the adapter but prefer the cable made on request. Sure I paid max about R120 a few years back.

The adapter from computee connection didnt work so had a cable made. Also using normal adapter on old dell pc but it always awkward working with pc as it looks better and less awkward ito space at back. So preference and negative experience with dvi vga adapter from computer cable.

Hi

Not picking up 2 drives in HP N54L. Do I need to do anything specific for hp to recognise drives. Picks up other two quite fine. Third was in since beginning but 4th I put in now. Restarted it. Possibly loose wires or drive not connecting properly?

Firstly noticed I had not screwed 4th into bay properly :o Swopped drives around placing 4th now in second bay and now N54L is picking up original 2 and new one. Placed third drive in bay 4. Not picked up by WHS 2011 yet in bios it shows? I notice when I push it in its as if it's not going in properly yet I have pushed it in properly as far as I can see. Cable to ODD/cd/5th bay could be interfering but I pulled it out of the way. Anyone had issues of cables interfering with 4th bay? Yet bios identifies it! So can't be cabling or that driver is not seated properly in bay.

Go into computer management. Under disks you can see whether windows picks up the drive or not. Could be that there is no file system on the drive or that the file system is corrupt in such a way that windows wont recognize it

Has any one been able to control the LED of the HP logo? I read that WHS uses it as a health indicator so it is possible to control it. Also saw it was located on the SMBus. I would like to control it in linux.

Thats how I know WHS doesnt recognise the drive. But bios picks it up. Not sure how to format the drive as no space in pc's but will see what I can do. Should be an external somewhere in the house :-)
