HP ProLiant MicroServer

Esquire has more n54l's on special - 1 per customer for R1699+vat (4GB RAM / No HDD)

Is not that tempting if there is no HDD. :)

Would prefer to buy from takealot with free delivery.

I agree. I cancelled my 2 the last time the deal was on and these wrong devices were offered instead of the HDD model.

Where can I get my hands on a spare key for my N54L?

They must be all the same; my old N36L is the same as my N40L, and also the same as my mate's N54L - I have a set of N36L keys if you want them (mobo died and was stripped for parts...)
Just to be on the safe side, you can have the lock as well ;)

In the hardware bargains thread, Esquire said they have the last stock of the N54L. Other reetailers might have but probably won't be getting in new stock .Supposedly it is now EOL.

any1 running Win 8.1 and XBMC 13 ever experience a problem where, after each episode/movie you watch, when you try and watch something else, the video would 'jerk' and only solution would be to close XBMC completely ???

Thx for the offer. I went on a massive hunting spree. Found so many things ... it is crazy. In the end I found it behind the server! It did not fall into the small baggie attached to the back of the server as initially intended but rather missed said baggie completely and landed beneath the server.

Client of mine reported a similar intermittent problem. Win7 XBMC 13. Could never pinpoint the problem as it started happening less and less. Recently moved to an internal HDD, Win2012 Kodi (XBMC) 14. Awaiting feedback at the moment.

k guys, so wanted to know:

is it basically just because of the small PSU that power output is limited, or does the motherboard also play a roll?

I'm looking to buy a UPS for a N54L, I am running FreeNas with an SSD. The server will always be switched on.

Is a UPS needed?
What spec UPS should I be looking for?
What is a good UPS to buy?

An UPS is always useful when you want to keep the system on all the time and preventing data corruption from intermittent power loss.

Is all depend what you want, like how long do you need the system to be on when power is out.

Use this tool, it will give you some insight what to look for.
