HP ProLiant MicroServer

I picked up a Gigabyte GT520 at Matrix Warehouse at Greenstone for R529. It was the last one and I wanted two (one for my sons HPMS). They called yesterday to say they had lots more stock of them in.
Hope this helps if you stay in the Edenvale area.

EDIT: And yes - it does come with an LP bracket :)

esquire has the Point Of View GT520 for R399ex vat
it doesnt come with a lp bracket but they sell them at R19 each

Hi
Posted in another thread as well but think this one is more relevant.
Also need some help.
Installed openelec on a new n40l. Followed milkmans guide but cant get samba config to pickup the unused 2tb drive.
It only picks up the 250gb drive that comes with the n40l where openelec is installed on.
When the pc boots up it does pick up the 2tb drive.
Any ideas?
Is your hdd named?
I had a similiar problem but changed the name/path of the disk 2 in the samba config file

I could see my additional drives with zero config changes anywhere.
The drives mount under /share/media/<volume name>
There should be a samba share for /share/media already? Drive is under there.

hmmm...are you saying you think it will fit, Sinbad? :confused:

Trying to picture it in my head. I don't think the 20mm is a problem. If I remember right, the X16 slot is the leftmost slot, and the right slot I left empty.
69mm - that's a half-height card isn't it?

I'll be able to tell you guys soon enough. Ordered one. Hope it fits.

Does normal computer shops sell LP brackets? Are they standard or do you get different brackets for different cards?

you're in luck grootbaas, It seems that will indeed fit

The N520GT-MD1GD3/LP is also 144 x 69 x 20 mm

that fan looks so huge though :D

Grootbaas...you might just wanna e-mail them specifying that you want the "N520GT-MD2GD3/LP" and NOT the "N520GT-MD2GD3"

on the takealot website they specify "Image for illustration only", and they do not specify "LP" anywhere in the product name.

N520GT-MD2GD3

N520GT-MD2GD3/LP

Edit: Oh, and the LP Bracket comes in the box....but you don't only need a LP Bracket, you need a LP Card as well

Thanks. I should've read up on it a bit more beforehand. Comparing the dimensions the takelot one is the LP one though (144 x 69 x 20 mm). It's already at the couriers so think I am going to wait it out and see what arrives.

Are you looking in the right place?

//openelec/media/2tb?

[Disk 2]
path = /media/Local Disk

change to

path = /media/your hdd name

worked for me

Considering changing the setup on the Microserver I'm using as an HTPC: replacing Openelec with XBMCBuntu, now that it's out of beta. I've enjoyed OE thoroughly, but occasionally I'm annoyed with its inflexibility, and the incompatibility with some XBMC addons.

Is anyone running XBMCBuntu on one of these? How is the performance? Anyone run into major issues?

I emailed PC Zone and they got 4 left in stock at the Ballito branch @ R499.00 (well this price was sent after they mailed the first time @ R599.00) this is the GT520 Gigabyte version that i read here comes with 3 year warranty (TakeALOT says 1 year ).

Am deciding between the 1GB or 2GB version and driving to Esquire will cost more it seems (fuel pricing :/) so theres that too.

Will post once i made the final decision :D.
