HP ProLiant MicroServer

I still cant seem to solve this panning issues. Tried openelec, xbmcbuntu, and unbuntu install running xbmc.

There is no jerkyness or frame skipping, but panning scenes are not smooth. I get that typical "flickering", especially noticeble when there is a panning scen with lot of detail (almost as if the frames are too far apart). Also tried the sync options under video settings. Not making any difference. So these sync options is either not working at all, or the settings is not recognised and applied.

Is there any other frontends I can try on the microserver. Or any idea. Is there any settings that can be adjusted on XBMC/openelec/etc outside of the xbmc interface menu: like driver settings, post processing. etc.

Any chance that flickering is actually in your source material?

Folks, Busy setting up microserver, going well, but can't map to \\openelec to configure the samba shares (following milkmans guide). what am I missing?

First make sure the openelec machine is in the network. Go to system, then system info, network.

There should be a ip address assigned.

Next try to access the machine using the ip address. \\192.168.0......

Help setting up...

So my Microserver arrived today and I've spent the last half an hour installing the RAM and GT520 GFX card. However it won't display anything.

The GT520 switches on and I have plugged in to the HDMI output but there it won't display anything at all. I have also tried plugging it in to the on board VGA output but that too is blank. I've also tried on two separate displays so that's not the problem.

Am I doing something wrong here? Do I have to remove the GFX card for the on board display to work? And will the HDMI on the GT520 only work if the drivers are installed?

Please help...

Maybe a faulty unit? Remove anything that you added, plug a monitor in to the onboard VGA and if you don't get anything on the screen then it's most likely something is fooked.

My gt520 displays post and everything on the HDMI display. So long before drivers are loaded. Try removing the card and seeing if the machine posts on the on board display?

Argh. Okay let me give that a try. If so then it would indicate that the GFX card is faulty, right?

Tried it with the GFX card out too and nothing. I can hear the fans switch on, the hard drive spin, and the GFX card switched on too when it was in. How could it not be working?

Crisis averted. You can all calm down now. The HDMI output is now working. It turns out you have to really push that bugger in to the port on the GT520. Not sure why the on board VGA isn't working but I'm not bothered enough about that to send it back...

lol yes it has to click in ;)

It looks like I've hit a bit of a brick wall with openelec though. I haven't bought all of the necessary Cat5 cables yet so I was expecting to just plug my externals in and copy stuff over - it seems you can't do that - it requires another linux or windows based machine to connect to the openelec machine to be able to copy stuff over. Oh well - will have to leave that for next week...

No
Install the beta openelec. It has xbmc Eden which includes a file manager so should be able to copy files I think....

I installed the beta but there doesn't appear to be a file browser. I can see the file manager but I'm not sure how to copy using that.

EDIT: aha, I see that you have to browse to the target directory in the right pane before the option to copy becomes available in the left. All sorted...

Installation going well, I have few questions though:
1. Audio does not work (Gigabyte NVidia GT520 card). I know there's a hack for this...
2. I have attached 2Gig Hard drive, updated the [samba] config file with Drive 2, but can't browse to it from my windows pc. Do one still have to format this drive??? Not sure how it works in Linux.
3. How do one install Sabnzbd on XMBC/Openelec? Which version do I download?

1) Change your audio output options in XBMC to custom, plughw:0,7
2) You don't need to ever adjust samba configs. The machine should have automounted your drive under /share/media/<volume label> if I remember right. You should be able to find this on the shares already. Is the drive formatted or not? It does need to be.
3) Through the XBMC menus, look for plugins and options to add plugins. You should see sabnzbd suite somewhere. Select and install it. Done.
