HP ProLiant MicroServer

I'm trying some other custom sound stuff now, want to see if I can get menu sounds working.
Will report back as soon as I'm allowed to reboot the damn box. Females and their Greys Anatomy...

my menu sounds were always fine
just had that problem in the begining, but your solution sorted that out

Does this not further prove my point about openelec? All three of us have the exact same hardware - identical in every aspect. However we all have different issues relating to the same problem resulting in differing solutions for each of us. That, in my world, is insane...

our cards are not the same? different brands? wouldnt that make a difference?
the reason i got the hp was so that i can mess around, something to keep me busy
if i didnt want that i could have just gotten a stand alone media player

think maybe thats what you need to do

I think I've identified the issue with menu sounds. It's a handshaking thing between my AVR and the HDMI card. When there's no sound playing the AVR goes into a kind of silent mode. Play a sound and it takes a second or two to decide how many channels are in the incoming bitstream and psyche itself up to play.

Not going to stress about it.
DTS is more important than pop... pop... shwish...

So to summarise
NO asound.conf file anywhere
And Audio config like so:
563204_10150705004325981_541255980_9697785_2071528703_n.jpg

No menu sounds for me but I get proper passthrough DTS and DD5.1

Ah right - I thought were were both using the GT520 on the N40L. Sinbad is, and his solution doesn't work for me. The same applies to numerous people I've encountered since beginning to research a solution - everyone has a different solution and many can't get it to work 100%...

Stuff that. I shouldn't have to get a bog standard stand-alone because Openelec is schit. I'll just change operating systems. That's like saying one should revert back to SABC1, 2 & 3 because the PVR software is buggy...

Once the system becomes available again I'll try deleting the asound.conf file and try those settings again. Unlikely anything will happen as I've tried that plenty already.

It is my understanding that setting up the asound.conf file sorts out the menu sounds issue...

Hmm. BUT when I had asound.conf working for menu sounds my plughw:0,7 stopped working.

So I think maybe there is some kind of conflict.

i also have the gt520
but was asking if the different brands dont make a difference??

not sure, i have the POV one from esquire

I doubt it. At the end of the day Linux sees it as a device with device files...

Precisely. I had the same issues. Except I was already having issues before that with certain files not playing...

I'm quite sure they all come out of the same factory as identical units. I'm sure the operating system is rather ambivalent towards the fancy packaging...:D

Create an empty file called ssh_enabled in the Config share and reboot

If you'd like, I can give you a flashdisk with the system on to demo, see if it helps out.

Just need to collect around Sandton. :)

Openelec beta 3 released

add Conexant cx23418 MPEG encoder support
add SMSC75XX network driver support
add TeVii S471 DVB-S2 PCIe card support
fix IRTrans IR support
update to eglibc-2.15-18222
update to openssh-6.0p1
update to xf86-video-intel-2.19.0
update to kernel 3.2.16
update to busybox-1.20.0
update to upower-0.9.16

If you'd like, I can give you a flashdisk with the system on to demo, see if it helps out.

I really appreciate that bullzeye but I'm steering clear of Sandton until next week and I really want this system sorted by then.

Sinbad has been really helpful in getting my audio to work somewhat better than before. Still struggling with mp3s but at least the video is working now...
