HP ProLiant MicroServer

just a question about refocus
i cant seem to find the music menu - cant get it listed on the homepage
everything else shows fine and I can turn them on and off, video, programs etc
I just cant seem to get the music one to show up

it shows up fine in the stock theme
im using openelec beta 2 (must still upgrade to the latest beta)

any ideas??
its the only thing thats not working on refocus, that and supertv

maybe uninstall the skin via add-ons screen, delete any traces in \.xbmc\addons\ and then go ahead and delete "guisettings.xml" in \.xbmc\userdata\

then clean re-install ReFocus 0.9.5

im assuming this is from as soon as you press the power button?

Yes

Registration with Esquire has now taken almost two days, any where else I can buy a HP Proliant N40L?

Just phone them, they probably already registered you and just never bothered to let you know. That's what they did with me.

Just have to thank Esquire for great service. Just received my HP ProLiant Microserver N40L, Point of View Geforce GT520 and a Low Profile bracket. Now the fun begins.

This is the bloody problem I have with this openelec piece of schit - now that Logitech have updated their software, all of the guides to setup the harmony remotes are futile. I've tried setting up a Windows Media Centre in the software but that does nothing. Absolutely fscking nothing.

I am really starting to hate this piece of schit. Why oh why must this kind of schit be so fsck off complicated? I have the remote. I have an IR receiver. How can it not work? FFS I am frustrated now.

This is actually more of a Logitech issue than an openelec one but christ almighty every turn with openelec presents a complication...

The software that Logitech pointed me to. It is online. If I try to use the supposed Unifying software, the next button remains greyed out stating that no unifying device is connected. Piece of schit.

I'm using a bog standard MCE remote receiver that I bought for about R100. Its called Miii...

The receiver works fine. I just manually taught the remote the up function and it works perfectly fine. Everything else works too - the tv, the receiver, the blu ray player and DSTV. Its just XBMC that won't work...

There's an option in xbmc for remote sends key presses

Select it

Tried that already. Was of no use whatsoever. I just taught the remote all of the functions manually and I guess I'm just going to have to sacrifice certain remote functions by the looks of things. Like the all important information button which was non-existent on the al-cheapo I bought...

just wanted to post that :D

DJ... maybe OpenELEC is just not for you. I think what you are looking for is a acryan :D

or... just hold in there!
we've all been in the position of figuring the stuff out - when you do it once and you understand what went wrong, it becomes easy to do in future.

I think you've been tackling too many things here, custom sound setups, amps, and harmony remotes..
seriously, you've jumped into the deep end here. if you succeed it will be well worth it though - just stay calm man.

PS: i have that same receiver - I don't think it's RC6-compatable. the thing costs R60 for both a remote and receiver, so don't expect much from it.

you can get the info button working. mine is on the "circle" button below the off button.
though I'm not sure if that is the button by default, or because I changed it using the utility included to change buttons.

try installing the Miii software, set circle to "info", and teach your harmony.

...then there is always XBMC Keymaps.

Edit: Otherwise, cut your R60 loss on the el-cheapo receiver, and buy a proper, RC6 compatable one.

RC6 is more jargon I know nothing about. It all works now that I've set it manually. Pretty happy apart from the info thing. Such a mission to change the el cheapo now but I'll do it some time to get the info working...

im also too lazy to change it lol

guys the latest openelec beta just completely crashed my system . dont download it.

@Dj, i feel ye pain.

I have had the system setup for about 3 weeks now and after trying the various flavours of XBMC , i stuck it out with a Win7 OS on the drive. It is slower upon bootup but ultimately it does what it is supposed to do :). Granted i also had issues with my GT520 HDMi audio giving issues and i require DTS-HD / DTS-HD MA and other HD codecs all working so this is all fine now. You need to grab XBMCHD to get those working fyi. check out the thread here and to download it

I myself am not a linux user but that does not mean i didn't want to go into the console and update packages and what have you, just getting it up and running was a priority :D.

I suggest to Dj, get your Windows 7 on there and you will be stress free for the most part.

Am still deciding on a remote set as i need one with a keyboard feel for browsing etc. :). I like XBMC Commander but i can't let prying eyes get a hold of my iPad (wish there was a way to password protect email client).

Also wanted to say, i check this thread everyday and its really great all of us have come together to share what we know. :)

I agree that the Windows route is usually the easier way to go if you need to connect to 5.1 receivers via hdmi, funky remotes, etc. especially if you are not familiar with Linux. My media center runs 24/7 and I hardly ever see what OS its running behind the scenes, this also means I don't reboot too often so boot times are irrelevant.

I am glad however I do know enough about Linux to make it pretty straight forward which saves me a ton of cash not having to fork out anything for Win7.

Good luck guys!

What about Windows Home Server 2011? I'm using it in a server setup though, not directly as HTPC.
