HP ProLiant MicroServer

Yeah I read that part and it has made me a little worried.

Your tips for the audio worked perfectly, sound now plays on the 3D movies thank you. Under the video settings I enabled "Allow hardware acceleration (DXVA 2), should I also enable the hardware acceleration (CrystalHD)? Going to have a look to see if the videos are still playing choppy, but the one i tested seem to be ok now. Any other tips for me to configure it properly or a link to guide? I looked on the plex forums and found a few tips but you seem to know what you talking about :D

No, you don't need to enable CrystalHD.

Choose WASAPI LG TV-1 NVIDIA High Definition Audio, WASAPI is uncompressed bit by bit pass-through of the audio as is.

To test if hardware acceleration is enabled, play a HD or 3D movie, then on your keyboard press the i-key on the second line of the thing that pops up it should read something along the lines of dc:ff-h264-dxva2, and at the bottom you will see CPU usage hover between 10 and 20%

Cool thanks, that's what I had it on but wasn't sure if it was correct. Thanks again for all your help, it really has helped me out so much. I am going to go through all the settings now but I am pretty sure I have got it running quite well. Now I just need to decide on a theme and then tomorrow when I get my Internet up and running again, let it finish scraping my media - will it automatically start scraping the content that it missed or is there somewhere I go to manually start the scraping?

I have no idea actually maybe just right click the Plex icon on the taskbar and choose to update the library.

Also remember about Plex Skin Manager, I myself use Aeon in the lounge and reFocus in my room.

I prefer Aeon though, reFocus is beautiful but the interface when playing a file sucks, it's just plain while Aeon shows the poster, ClearArt and a synopsis of what you're currently watching.

Yeah that's what I was thinking. I will try that tomorrow. What I love is when I copy new media from an external drive to the internal drives that have my movies and series ect, it automatically adds them and shows up in my Plex Media Centre without me having to do anything, that's probably one of my favorite features.

I love everything about Plex:love: but something that's really great is when I'm not at home I can still access the Plex Media Server from my phone and listen to my music.

Is that something that is set up by default? Meaning once I have added my server to my iPad and iPhone, can I then access all the media the same way I do when I am at home? Or is the something I need to setup on my server or iPad orang iPhone?

Wherever you are, myPlex connects you with the people and content that you love. Whether you want to watch a movie on the road, remember a cool web video to watch later on the big screen at home, or share those precious home movies with distant relatives, we'll take care of the technical stuff for you. It's simple, intuitive and configuration-free. So relax, sit back and enjoy your media on your terms.

Just remember SA internet speeds generally suck, but yes it's just like you're on the server at home, you can see all your media and watch anything, music streams fine though, movies and TV are limited by your internet upload speed.

Oh yeah I have already signed up to myplex. Just out of interest, would it use up my Internet at home or just the data/Internet I am connected to at the time I want to view data ( say I connect to the wifi at my office and browse to watch a movie or something)?

Data at both ends, at home the server uploads the data and at the office it gets downloaded as you stream.

Ahhh ok I thought that might be the case. So it could get quite data hungry then. Especially that I use 8ta 10gig bundle for my home Internet, so doubt I'd be using that often then.

At the lowest quality setting on the Plex app it would use 144 megabyte for a hour of use, so if you watch a TV show it would use 52.8 megabyte, taking the average length of 22 minutes per episode.

ok now I am starting to get jealous... why does XBMC have this awesome feature.... I thought Plex was a branch off of xbmc

I know this question has been asked before on other forums, but does Plex really download such a HUGE amount of data when scraping the media? On Friday it downloaded almost 5 gigs in no time at all, and now this morning that my internet has been renewed, its done almost a gig in less than an hour (there is nothing else running on the HP). I got a popup message saying Plex is done updating the library but may still need to download more info. Please could someone verify that this is correct or maybe there is a setting I need to change or something?

I just checked and my Plex metadata folder was almost 9 gigabyte, yeah that is a lot, but once everything is done it's only a couple of megebyte per extra movie you add, those posters and HD backdrops can be quite large.

Yeash I thought it might be quite large, but whats weird is when I go through all my media on the Plex Media Center, it seems that 95% of the files have their metadata already, but for some reason something is still downloading a huge amount. In the past 1h30min I have used almost 4gigs of mt 10gig cap so I'm getting quite worried. Is there a way to cancel it maybe?

OK it seems to have slowed down now finally. It has only downloaded around 185mb now in the last 30 minutes which is alot better. Just going through all the media now to make sure it has the correct poster and write up ect.

With regards to the skins, I can only find info to install them using OS X, do I follow the same guidelines or is there another way to do it? Also I can't see where to download the actual skins, there are lots of forums talking about changes ect to them, but nothing really with a download option. Do I do it through the Plex Media Server or something?

I made this post about the time you lost some of your stuff so think you missed it.

Ahhh yes I remember that post now, thanks will look into that now. Still busy gong through all the media as alot of the movies has a poster but no details or vica-versa so manually going through it now to make sure all is in order. Once that is done I will start playing around with skins ans see which one I prefer.

So 7gigs later (had to stop the scraping as its the first of the month only and only have 3gigs remaining) but I'm sure it did most of it. I then used the Plex Skin Manager to install the refocus back to blue skin which looks great. The only thing is It doesn't show me what shows I have already watched, on the default theme there was a circle that was fully white if it had been watched completely or the circle would be half white if the show had been watched but not completed. In the setting under "view" I have enabled unmatched icon for tv shows and season and for movies but still can't see the icon anywhere. Am I doing something wrong or is there a setting somewhere else I need to configure? The default theme would displays by default. Please can someone let me know, it's a feature I really need as we watch a lot of tv shows.
