HP ProLiant MicroServer

N3G4T1v3:
Have a look at my build suggestion that I made a few months ago: MSI AMD E350 build
Now that motherboard goes for around R790 and is currently out of stock.

Jump just turned up the Saphire E350 Boards, they where like R1100
The MSI board looks like an awesome board for a decent HTPC build, how well does it fair with 1080P playback?

Interesting build regardless, I hope the turn out more those AMD all-in-one boards, I can definitely see use in them

Well beta 2 looks good hey :)

Everything seems to be working as expected. Harmony remote worked with no config. HDMI audio including menu sounds all done without any hackery, just selecting the right audio output from the dropdown.

snail, if you've taken out the motherboard tray to install RAM, then I'd suggest that you ensure that the HDD connector is plugged in very well on the motherboard. I had quite a lot of HDD detection issues initially with mine when I didn't plug in it properly.

Haven't removed anything from the inside. Was an external drive that I plugged in and shared. Then everything went south.

Any updates on getting the SuperSport add-on working with Openelec 2.0?

Just installed XBMCUbuntu on my new Microserver -- now looking for compatible graphics card to do the HDMI out.

Any recommendations on model that will work (without too much debugging/troubleshooting)?

All help is appreciated.

Any low profile card. Go on price, they all work. Stick to Nvidia. Gt520 is a common choice.

I have hd5450, had a lot of problems.

Sidenote. I suggest you use openelec.

Openelec 3 beta. Hdmi support is much improved.

Anyone know how to enable permanent full screen for XBMC on ubuntu 12.04, Nvidia GT610, latest updates installed, I've set XBMC to start at login and set the fullscreen script but it just starts in fullscreen then goes back to windowed mode everytime and I can't find any solutions.

Doesn't the forward slash key on you keyboard keep it fullscreen. Worked for me on ubuntu.

Hi,

Complete noob question - I have recently setup a HP Proliant microserver that is connected via a router to my Windows 7 PC.

I have managed to browse to the PC from XBMC and add some media as additional sources - at least this establishes that the machines are linked over the network.

What I want to do is manage my media from the PC (rename file names etc) - I am battling to browse to XBMC from my pc

Help please!!

What OS you running on the Microserver? A slightly important factor :D

Yeah it switches between fullscreen and windowed, but it doesn't work at startup since XBMC isn't the main program/window. I have to alt tab into it then it goes fullscreen

Find the IP address of the microserver, click start on your PC, type in run, open that then type in "\\server IP address" and press enter.

Mine is now mapped in explorer, but initially I typed in //openelec into the address bar of explorer and it opened. I could also browse it by clicking on the network option in explorer - it would show up all connected devices, including the openelec microprocessor...

Hi

I recently purchased a N40L for use as an HTPC. This will be connected to my Samsung led.
Have an existing HTPC (using Antec NSK 2480B) as well which is connected to another lcd.

I have a couple of questions:

1. Got myself a Sapphire Radeon HD6450 2GB card. Apparently this comes with a heatsink, which it seems (from googling) either fits perfectly or doesn't at all. Anyone have same card and see that it fits fine?

2. Running PLex server and clients on my other htpc and laptop and ipad's. Seems to work fairly well with no issues, with exception of sub titles not showing at all.

The new htpc will pick up content from the old one, and in time vice versa as well.

What options do I have? Will possibly be installing Win 7 - but open to suggestions. Note - my kids will use this as well, so cannot be too complex to navigate around.

3. System comes with 2GB ram - should I add more?

Thanks for the expert help
