Me too. Doesn't boot up. Some dude on the openelec forum said manually creating the autorun.ini solved his problem. Can someone share their autorun.ini file please.

Btw What OS are you running the .bat file that creates the key?

I found using the windows utility created non functional USB install keys, the good old bat file worked fine. Fat32 is fine for your install key

Isnt that a bit on the cheap side?

Most places sell them for R1800 - R2000. GPU is about R550, Wifi R200 and lets just through in the HDMI cable.

So thats R2500 new. More than 1/3 hit for something a few weeks old with full packaging and warranty seems a bit steep.

Was just taking a flyer initially.

To get down to the numbers - Esquire has it for R 1 250 + 450 for the card (both inclusive) + R 200 equals R 1 900.
so maybe my guesstimate wasn't far off.
To the non mybb member closer to R 2k would be appropriate I would suppose.

I included the vat in my calculation.
 
Is the lan port on the n40l that esquire sell come standard with 10/100/1000 or just 10/100?
 
I hope someone can help me with this ****ing htpc!! I have never worked on linux or xbmc before so I have no idea what I am doing. I installed openelec from usb drive to the drive which came with the machine. Now I'm trying to follow the milkmans guide to configure samba so I can see my drives that's in the machine. I have 3 drives inside which I would like to sort.

When I take the milkmans samba.conf file and copy it to the config files, what should I do after that? I have no ****ing idea what to edit or what the **** to do! If I just copy and paste the file,reboot xbmc I can see disk1 disk2 disk3 and disk4 but I can't access any drive or see what's on those drives from my windows pc. I can only see what's on disk1.

When I try and access disk2-disk4 I get a error message \\openelec\disk4 is not accessible. You might not have blah blah blah!!!!

Is there anyone that can explain this in the easiest way please because this is ***!

Where abouts are you based? You're heading up the wrong tree it seems, I'm afraid. You can configure SAMBA shares on OpenElec strictly via the UI which means you don't have to fiddle with config files and whatnot. Are the drives accessible locally? If not, a good guess would be that you created mount points but haven't actually mounted the drives.

Linux has a bit of a learning curve and it comes across as quite intimidating and it can be frustrating, but it's really not that terrible. We'll get you sorted, just one step at a time.

Unfortunately I'm in Pretoria, so can't exactly pop over and sort you out as I hoped. Anyway, I'm at work today (Yes, I know...) so I don't have OpenElec right in front of me, but when I'm home this afternoon/tonight, if someone hasn't helped you yet, I can sit down and have a look at the exact steps you have to take. Odds are you're just missing a user permission or something stupid like that.

As much as I respect the Milkman process I find I mostly unnecessary. Openelec automatically mounts the the drives in openelec/media/drive names. There are reasons to manually mount but I doubt it is worth it.

Which version of openelec are you using?

Milkmans guide is for the openelec running Dharma and wont work with the newest one running Eden. I havent set up Openelec with eden yet tho I'm not much help. I will give it a go sometime soon tho..
