Long story.

1. Seemingly the nerd that had to install my HP Officejet 6313 All-in-One software and drivers from the internet, did not complete the job and I need some assistance. He downloaded the driver for the printer part of the HP 6313, but I cannot find the scanning function on my laptop, so I am trying to download a driver for that.

2. I downloaded the 2nd driver from the following URL :

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareList?os=228&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&lang=en&product=1119599

It was installed, set up, etc, but I am not sure where to go to e.g. start a scan. In the past, I would have a HP All In One Icon to click and it would start the process.

3. Should I rather uninstall option 2 and try to download option 3?

Thanks

Yes, you need to install option 3. I've had the same issues with these all-in-one packages. Installing the drivers only leaves you limp. You need to install the full package.

I spoke too quickly. Trying to download the full feature and drivers, but I get a message saying the file cannot be saved because "the source file could not be read".

Anyone know how this problem can be overcome?

Use the original cd supplied with the product as it has the actual application suite to use all the features(scanning, etc) of the product. HP site to download sucks - it is better to get a copy from a dealer.
