Care when buying games from HRK Gaming, they are terrible!!

Ordered motogp 19 from that at a supposed 48% discount. Game get released on steam today.
Bought it on HRK +- a month ago, where they give you a free game with. Got some random action badminton game worth a few cents. That key was available immediately so redeemed it.

Today I see the game is cheaper on steam than what I payed for AND I can only redeem the key from HRK tomorrow, a day later than on steam.
I requested a refund, they said no because I redeemed the free game.

So they give you the game knowing most people will redeem the key, so then you are not able to refund or anything.

Very unethical from them. Will never use or support them again.

Not, unethical, the price was tied to a giveaway, and seeing that the company is based in Estonia you have to abide by their laws, and to add HRK is a grey goods store.

You pretty much agreed to those terms when you purchased the game, and registered your account.

No, not unethical, unethical would be when they go against Estonian laws and their own policy (whether it is in line with Estonian laws). There is no customer protection here with you. Just better research your next purchase.

No, not unethical, unethical would be when they go against Estonian laws and their own policy (whether it is in line with Estonian laws). There is no customer protection here with you. Just better research your next purchase.

The publisher has no agreement with HRK whatsoever, HRK gets their keys somewhere and that somewhere may either be legal or illegal which is not up for me to determine. There are grey market resellers reselling retail copies online which they legally obtain.

The publisher does have an agreement with Steam.

Also, never pre-order with grey goods resellers as they don’t have ‘pre-order’ keys.

It doesn’t seem that there are any other authorised Windows PC resellers other than Steam. Unethical may be argued, but HRK may have been waiting on retail keys or ‘other’ region compatible Steam keys, Steam gifts, to resell which is against Steam’s policy.

As I said, do your research when purchasing. Anyone can determine their own discounts, via couponing, or through publisher agreement.

Did you buy the game accepting their refund policy?

Not to mention the price you pay on Steam, which is cheaper, is the publisher's price for South Africa.

We are quite lucky though. Steam, and their region policies, and their publishers are very generous towards us. When games are discounted, it is basically, pending on the publisher, given away to us.

You know what, this is all thanks to VAT inclusion, that what we bitch about otherwise we would still be paying US prices. Since they now pay taxes here, we are regional.

MotoGP 19 is -63.80% cheaper than the US when you have a SA account. In some other cases, especially with some indie developers, they do charge us more in some cases.

Yeah we sometimes score big time with our South African prices on steam compared to EU and US. Just hope that the version you bought on HRK is for this region and not US otherwise it's not going to accept the key in Steam.
