Of course I don't sit looking at the dongle all the time but I have for the past month watched VERY closely, in the past 2 months, I have not seen any other colour than dark blue, and the software saying HSPA. Internet still works but obviously and noticibly slower.

From the Cell C software, I selected WCDMA ONLY a while back but now I can't change that (it's grey'd out). But HSPA it remains.... Anyone else had that?

Please excuse me if this has been noted elsewhere, bit of a rant thread.

EDIT: Can you freaking believe that as I type this, it is suddenly and incredibly flicking between HSPA and WCDMA. And yes, I have watched very closely indeed... What the heck!?!?!?

 What's wrong with HSPA? What are you hoping to see?

I don't see the problem. HSPA is WCDMA, just faster version of the standard. Speed from slowest --- GPRS -> EDGE -> 3G (WCDMA / UMTS) -> HS(D)PA.

Your modem will switch to UMTS when your connection's idle to save power. Most mobile phones do the same.

I didn't even know the Cell C dongles changed colour, I've only ever seen red (off line) and light green when online. Am I missing something?

Blue for idle WCDMA, Cyan for HSPA+ for 3G browsing... Green is EDGE.
