So I updated to Android 2.3 last week, but experienced an increase in battery life. Used to get a day and a halve on a charge.

Yesterday I fully disharged my battery for the first time while playing a game. The phone went into power saving mode. I hooked it up to a charger and charged for about 5 hours. The battery level only came up to 70 percent in that time.

So I went to sleep, and was woken at 3 by the battery warning.

Put it on charge again, and woke up this morning with battery showing 100 %.

It is now 3 hours later, and the battery is flat again.

How did this happen, and how do I fix it ? Battery went from lasting a day and a half to 3 hours. Could this be a faulty battery ? The phone is only 2 weeks old.

Install an app called current widget, check the log file when it's supposed to be in standby mode.

It should only be drawing about 10ma max, but I know that my HD originally was pulling like 160ma. Killed the battery real quick.

Rooted, updated with a newer radio and hey presto - 2 to 4 days off a charge.

BE CAREFUL, don't brick your phone by flashing radio or S-ENG wrong. Read everything carefully. You probably don't need to flash new radio etc, just check whats killing your bat. Some app is probably stopping it from going into standby and keeping it 'awake'

This sucks. It never happened before I drained my battery completely.

Now it goes so quickly I can hardly take it of charge to use.

Weird. Any Worrying, coz I have a Desire HD. Mine is fine though, battery life is even better since 2.3 Was getting 2 days, now getting almost 3 days of battery life.

Maybe I had a dud battery from the start. Never got more that 1.5 days after updating to 2.3.

Before that on 2.2 got 1 day max.

I get about 3 days on 2.3 on normal use. Use to get 1.5 on 2.2

After the update my usage went down the drain, but I dont know if this was because of playing around with the update or the battery retraining.

I don't ever think I've gotten a full day - mine usually dies at around 2pm.

What the hell are you doing on your phone? do you have a job/work? surely you cant be using your phone heavily for that long?

even on 2.2 my phone had a full days battery while on wifi (used an app that turns wifi on only when im using the phone) youtube'd, facebook'd, twitter'd, brows'd everything :D

No clue... it just sits here on the desk... probably all the data services... it was syncing twitter, linkedin, facebook, flickr, reader, google every hour - I've now turned them off.

With all sync except gmail turned off, currently at 40% since 5am this morning :(

Something very wrong there.

On 80% charge. Got everything on from WiFi to mobile and Facebook, Twitter, gmail and all sync running. Even worse I have 3D shell, made 4 calls and using phone right now for MyBB.

Oh forgot to mention took phone off charge this morning @ 2

I did a factory reset last night, as well as the whole battery training thing. Still sitting at 73% after regular usage today.

A couple of calls, mailx reading news etc.

Mobile connection is on to receive mail, and update.
Looks like whatever the problem was is solved.

Sent from my Desire HD using MyBroadband Android App

Mine started about two weeks ago...so I'm assuming its an app... before that it lasted a day...

Don't really want to reset though.

Have you installed watchdog not the 3g one and checked what the CPU use of your apps look like?

My battery has improved after dain-full charge cycles. Yesterday I was at 70% charge when I got home from work at 18:30, before that the batt would be waining at about 10%, and I had battery off charge from 5 that morning

I had a full charge last night though as it was connected to my PC internet-passthrough, so I wouldn't yet know if it will last 2 full days or 2.5 or what, but I'm betting it will. I also use Juice Defender to toggle the mobile internet on or off at certain times, usefull for batterylife but also for the pocket, (VC are smoking me on data tarrif as I neglected to buy a data bundle for a better rate when I upgraded, waiting for this month to just roll over...)

Battery is sitting at around 40%, much better than it was - not sure if its JuiceDefender or the Live background turned off thats helping
