FYI - A tweet I received from HTC SA.

@HTCSouthAfrica @ShadsK The Gingerbread update for the HTC Desire HD will be pushed out by the operators next week.

Excellent!

Great stuff. What ever happened to the over the air push where you don't pay?

Yep, our operator's have made such sceptics out of us! So sad. We have to see it to believe. So, I am cautiously optimistic :)

Got my update last week (see DHD thread). On MTN, but not an MTN phone.

Watch out for the sudden decrease in battery life- it caught me out. Apparently the battery needs to be recalibrated in OS- so will need to do the same drain/charge/remove/charge or whatever most of us did initially.

So far, so good!

So how did you get your upgrade ? I'm on MTN as well, and when I go to Menu > Settings > About phone > System software upgrades, it tells me there is no upgrades available.

Probibly international or a Supplier direct phone: ie not linked to any SP

I got it on my Plain HTC Desire on friday that was bought in NZ.

I just did a manual software upgrade check, and it was available. Busy downloading now..

Personally I am going to wait till there is a proper way to root after update, I dont want another locked device like my Wildfire.

Dam, burning to know how it looks..... anyone know if it can be rooted?

Busy downloading. Now if only I can get the update for my old Desire as well...

Sent from my HTC Desire using MyBroadband Android App

Ok mine is installed. Android 2.3.3. Build 2.36.421.10.

First impression:
Navigation and scrolling is much snappier.
The quick settings feature is nice so it is quicker to turn off GPS, Wireless.
Seperate Downloads application
New keyboard.
Looks wise it still looks the same.
