A Friend of mine who has his Desire Z on MTN just received an OTA Update - 104 MB...
and his phone now has Gingerbread.

I'm on Vodacom... No update -

Has anyone else on any Network received the update?

Wish I had that phone... But that flipping phone is so rare in our country. In any case it does depend on the service provider up to a certain extent. If I'm right it mostly depends on Leaf and when they decide to roll out updates. You should be able to get that update by now. If not, then connect it to a computer and try it that way. There shoudl be a way for you to do it.

Tried everything... still no update, AND I can't seem to find too many other people who have this phone to verify.

Okay I might have a solution for you. The XDA forums is the place to find these kinds of things out. Or in your case the HTC forums also.

Here try this link, I haven't checked it but it's all about the HTC Desire Z and it's Android development. Hope it helps :)

I'm a regular on that site, No solution there - I just want to know if anyone else in South Africa has received the 2.3 update OTA.

Okay... I see it... Just appeared now!... Busy downloading.

Noticing little improvements that cumulatively really add value. Eg. My exchange based email now appears in html - very nice!

Edit: Pfft, still renders 'sent' email in Times New Roman.

Lol, ok..not that long.. Restart your phone.. make sure its on HSDPA..and check again. Can't think of any other reason... I suppose your normal browsing is working fine...

yip everything else works fine...going to restart and check how much data it used or is using

Are you doing it on Wifi or 3G? if it's 3G - make sure you're on HSDPA and not Edge or GRPS.

took out the battery and restarting seems to have worked...thanx
hope it improves my battery life
