I now have the HTC Dream on MTN, to discover that I have no market place. None whatsoever. So I can't even download the free apps available for Android. And never mind the fact that the OS is version 1.1, not the latest 1.5, which is pretty backwards. Especially since the phone has supposedly only landed in the last 2 or so weeks according to MTN. So why do we have old devices????? Have I made a mistake signing up with MTN?

An answer would be nice, cause I'm spending a lot of money on something that doesn't work as advertised?

Thanks for the heads up on this.

I was pretty close to going for the HTC Dream (G1) with MTN. Thankfully, none of their stores had stock. Then Vodacom launches the G2 - HTC Magic. So MTN now has a 8 or 9 month old device as it's premium handset, while Vodacom has a 3 month old device (Magic launched April 09 I think).

I'll keep an eye on this thread .. cause, like I said, I am eying some new pocket filling device soon. Guess I should go read up on the OS differences too :p
