Does anybody know when the HTC Dual Touch will be available in SA? Specifically on Vodacom?

Dont hold your breath ... unless otherwise pressured by the general public, the device suppliers are not in a real hurry to grab hold of the newer devices immediately cos as the devices near end of life on the production line they get them cheaper and make more money.
typical example would be the TyTN II ... if these devices where not available to the public through alternate means, it would not of been available at least until the old TyTN stock pile has been cleared.

Business is Business at the end of the day and i can respect that ... just not when it is monopolized ...

Received from Leaf today:

Good Day ItsJustJack,

Thank your for your email

We are currently undergoing Network and ICASA approval on the HTC Touch Dual; permitting all goes accordingly we will launch this device early next year.
Prices will only be available closer to the launch date.

For any further queries please don’t hesitate to contact me.

Thank you

just about around the time the Touch Cruise will be available to the rest of the world ... and the Touch Dual is discontinued ...

Unfortunately that's the way it is in our country. Phones get launched way too late compared to the rest of the world.

Errrr I disagree with that.
The Dual was only announced couple weeks ago, its much newer it wont be here by the end of this year. Both phones will be a available the touch and the Touch dual.

As for the Tytn 2 it was manufactured to be the same price as the Tytn.
The SPs were well aware of the price and planned ahead to get rid of old stock and order the new ones.

My experience is that we get most phones very quickly ... but it depends on what our market prefers/wants. The majority prefers Nokia so we get them quite quickly imo. I see HTC as a niche high income brand with a small local footprint (compared to Europe/US/ME/Asia) not warranting speedy large quantity imports. Nokia is low risk (no chance of stock rot).

I had a Touch a good couple of months ago .. the Touch Dual has been released in the rest of the world.
it will take 3 working days to the device here. all docs for ICASA approval is made available by device manufacturer. these docs can be sent through way before the device even gets here. a couple of grand later you have an ICASA document and you get the ICASA stickers ... Network testing doesnt take more than 3 weeks ...
there is another device after the Touch Dual .. the Touch Cruise, no official ETA but i expect to hear more towards the begining of next year which will most probably coincide with the official release of the Touch Dual.

anyway ... I am dwelling on this topic to long. i am not looking to cause a riot ... I just say it like it is.
