I see the HTC HD2 is available on contract at Canal Walk...

I was wondering what the best contract is to get, they all have roughly the same phone subsidy of R150-R170/month for the Talk 120, 240, etc, etc. Top-up 315.

I'm thinking the 315 - that way I can decide what I want to use the money for, data, calls, etc. I'm currently using around R110-R300 a month on prepaid...

Thanks - Thats basically what I saw R144 on the Talk ones and R159 on the Top-up 315 - couldn't recall the exact amounts :)

Needed to come back to the office to get the documents they require, so thought it'd be a good time to decide on a contract.

Oh sorry, I thought you were asking what the deals are. If you like having control on your spend, then Top Up is better. You can compare the call rates between the packages here: http://www.vodacom.co.za/pkgcmp.do?action=pkgscompare

Thanks - was just doing that - whats the difference between the Topup 315 and 315s - they cost the same, except the Top-up 315 is considerably cheaper with regards to calls, etc. (it also seems cheaper than the Talk 130 and 240)

EDIT - and is the Top-up 315 also available with the HD2?

The "s" @ the end stands for "per second billing" What you must remember is that when you work per second billing works out more expensive if you talk for long periods @ a time. Per second billing is designed for people that talk shorter than a minute per call (yes these people do exist). What you must also remember that on permintue billing, if you talk for 5 seconds, then you get billed for a minute. If you talk for 1 minute and 5 seconds, you get billed for 1 minute and 30 seconds and not the full 2 minutes. After the 1st minute, it goes on a 30 second increment.

verstaan jy nou or is your head spinning? :-)

Ah - ok - I probably would then fit in the 's' bracket - prefer my phone more for data on the go (email) - not a fan of talking :)

There is nothing that pisses me off more than such severe incompetence.

I went to the Canal Walk store earlier with a payslip and drivers, asked the sales guy if they had stock, to which he responded yes AND they're getting another lot tomorrow, we sat at one of the desks and went through the packages - I then didn't have the required documentation and came back to the office and started the above thread.

I then prepared the 3x bank statements, payslip ID, RICA documentation and went back to the store (literally an hour later) and find the same sales guy... sit down and two seconds later he tells me they don't have stock - he then proceeds to phone the other stores in Canal Walk - all no stock. He then tells me he doesn't know when they'll get stock again and I must try drive to N1 City and check if they still have stock W . T . F .... YAY for wasting my time.

This sort of incompetence just reminds me why I don't really want a contract - how difficult is it to check and tell me you don't have stock when I ask, instead of wasting my damn time.... I wish the employ of incompetent staff in SA was illegal.

EDIT:
Just wasted two hours of my billable time.
Petrol
R14 in parking
Ink on printing 30 odd pages
and 30min on this thread.

Still haven't found this phone anywhere - its shocking that places like cellucity and Vodacom can advertise these devices as available when they can't get stock - and now that my original phone is missing, its obviously becoming an issue.

How useless can one companies sales department be - I got a call today out of nowhere telling me they've got the HD2 on back-order - THREE months later...WTF

Just get something else, dude. Buying an HD2 now would be absolutely nuts.
