HTC HD2

Got the HD2 last week. Have had a few days to fiddle and compare. Quick random impressions:
* magniffffficent display! Without a doubt the best I've ever seen, by a long chalk. The capacitive screen works pretty well without a stylus, and once trained with Screen>Alignment, it's surprisingly accurate.
* It's huge - quite a lot bigger than the HD, though thinner. Fits fine into my huge hands. I now have a HD for sale with brand new unused screen (replaced under warranty by HTC Europe). I'll keep the Diamond2 for wis en onwis and blow in a Leo ROM (Miri or Dutty's).
* As expected, the micro-USB is a major irrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrritation, because I have mini-USB everywhere for previous phones, USB drives, etc. For many this is a non-issue.
* HTC Sense (the new TouchFlo 3D) is really good and usable.
* Love the integrated wifi AP. One funny is the wireless connection says MMS.GPRS whereas I am using Internet GPRS (Vodacom). This is not WM but HTC Sense app. Still, it works fine.
* Only one app couldn't install at first (Pocket Stars astronomy app) because WM6.5 hides Owner Info by default, which is required by the activation serial number. This was quickly solved thanks to XDA Developers (that site alone makes WM worth more the any other platform).
* Syncing huge Contacts and Calendar with W7-64-Pro was flawless and without a hitch. Noticeably faster than HD and TD2 (perhaps the default connection is USB2, haven't checked).
* GPS satellite acquisition is under 5 secs. Great. Using GMXT. The new Bing Mobile and Google Maps are also useful.
* Audio is loud! At last an HTC phone with a speaker you can actually hear.
* I don't mind it not having a video call cam on front. The 5mp back cam takes nice shots - I don't have the pinkish tinge issue some users have reported.
* The 1GHz Snapdraggon processor sure makes this thing speedy - it's the snappiest smartphone/PDA I've used/tested.
* Battery life so far seems reasonable; feels slightly better than on my HD, thoough haven't properly tested/compared as it's too much trouble to control for all the variables.

In short, this is the best PDA/smartphone I've ever had. For serious users who know and understand the WM world, it's an absolute delight. I seldom rave about technology, but this phone is magnificent. I know why almost all reviewers are raving with astonishment.

I found the only solution for this is to create your own connection i.e. Vodacom3G and use it as the default. Then it will work nicely :)

Also, look for an app called TD2 tools (on XDA somewhere) - it will allow you to manage the data connections. You can disable, enable, set always on etc. Pretty handy..!

Another bonus for WM users used to resistive touch screens: the HD2's screen is tempered glass, so a screen protector is not necessary unless you plan to attack it with power tools. After a rough few days the screen is totally scratch-free.

And the thing is location-aware. The HTC Sense weather, date and time apps automatically detect location. Drove from Oudtshoorn to Plett today, and watched the default location weather change from town to town. Nifty.

for anyone who wantsd to know, just check the nashua mobile website for prices. They always seem to know the vodacom specials way before vodacom does :) prices for the hd2 have been on there since december.

Man, the more I use the HD2 the better it becomes.
Build quality is the best of any phone I've ever had. I don't have screen or device protectors or pouches or anything, and I'm pretty rough with these things, and as yet there's not a single teeny scratch anywhere.
The screen is the largest and best of any phone out there, bar none. Gorgeous. Capacitive, Multi-touch. Tempered glass, so no scratches.
Battery life is not bad and certainly better than an iPhone (don't know anyone who gets through a full day without i-charging). I'm getting about 1.5-2 days on a charge.
The 1.48 ROM installed without issue.
I have not had a single blip, glitch or brain fart since the day I got it.
After buying six micro-USB cables and making sure they're everywhere I go, it's been less frustrating than I'd thought having to move off mini-USB (see previous post 21 above).
I've never been a smartphone camera user, but this is the first one I've had that actually takes pretty decent snaps. Videos are smooth.
The HD2 gets better and better with each passing week. Recommended.

Wasn't sure what business call included :p

How much is the phone cash?

I'd ideally like the phone on a topup contract.
