Got the HD2 last week. Have had a few days to fiddle and compare. Quick random impressions:
* magniffffficent display! Without a doubt the best I've ever seen, by a long chalk. The capacitive screen works pretty well without a stylus, and once trained with Screen>Alignment, it's surprisingly accurate.
* It's huge - quite a lot bigger than the HD, though thinner. Fits fine into my huge hands. I now have a HD for sale with brand new unused screen (replaced under warranty by HTC Europe). I'll keep the Diamond2 for wis en onwis and blow in a Leo ROM (Miri or Dutty's).
* As expected, the micro-USB is a major irrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrritation, because I have mini-USB everywhere for previous phones, USB drives, etc. For many this is a non-issue.
* HTC Sense (the new TouchFlo 3D) is really good and usable.
* Love the integrated wifi AP. One funny is the wireless connection says MMS.GPRS whereas I am using Internet GPRS (Vodacom). This is not WM but HTC Sense app. Still, it works fine.
* Only one app couldn't install at first (Pocket Stars astronomy app) because WM6.5 hides Owner Info by default, which is required by the activation serial number. This was quickly solved thanks to XDA Developers (that site alone makes WM worth more the any other platform).
* Syncing huge Contacts and Calendar with W7-64-Pro was flawless and without a hitch. Noticeably faster than HD and TD2 (perhaps the default connection is USB2, haven't checked).
* GPS satellite acquisition is under 5 secs. Great. Using GMXT. The new Bing Mobile and Google Maps are also useful.
* Audio is loud! At last an HTC phone with a speaker you can actually hear.
* I don't mind it not having a video call cam on front. The 5mp back cam takes nice shots - I don't have the pinkish tinge issue some users have reported.
* The 1GHz Snapdraggon processor sure makes this thing speedy - it's the snappiest smartphone/PDA I've used/tested.
* Battery life so far seems reasonable; feels slightly better than on my HD, thoough haven't properly tested/compared as it's too much trouble to control for all the variables.
In short, this is the best PDA/smartphone I've ever had. For serious users who know and understand the WM world, it's an absolute delight. I seldom rave about technology, but this phone is magnificent. I know why almost all reviewers are raving with astonishment.
