I searched the forums and the www but havent found much on this yet. Here is my problem:

When making or receiving calls on my P4350 the sound is gone. When I hold the volume button to max for a few seconds i can barely here something but cant make out what i being said. It does the same when I have got my headphones in so I know its not a hardware problem with my speaker. What does works though is if I transfer the call to my speakerphone, I can then hear fine but so can everyone arround me :o

I have flashed my HTC with 3 differnet ROM's and each one does exactly the same so its not some app installed. It used to do this every now and again an all i had to do is wait a few hours before it came right but now my phone has been like this for almost a week with no luck.

I went to the vodacom store in Tygervaley and they said they have to send it in for repairs in JHB for minimum two weeks. As this is my only phone (someone broke in at my place and stole all my spares) and I use it for work I cant go without it for even a day... so I asked if they can give me a replacement for the time it is in for the 'repairs' and they said NO. :(

So I then asked them for the number at JHB where the technicians work so that I may ask one of them what-up and they gave me 0821944, a number to track your repair :( so not much came from that. So far every site that has got a hint of someone with the same problem either is a dead end or the person got his phone swapped out after sending it in for repairs twice on the problem.

So, has anyone had this problem on an HTC phone and know what the issue is and how it can be fixed?

Thanks in advance

I had the same problem. No sound while calling but speakerphone works fine, headphones worked fine aswell unlike yours.

Sent my phone in, when i got it back it worked fine but and theres always a BUT!! The top part(1cm from border) of my touchscreen didnt work, didnt respond to touch at all... After a while i got frustrated and opened the phone up with a pair of Scissors  what was i thinking.

Anyway i was careful not to break anything i noted that the guy @ the repair centre did some massive soldering for some reason
Then the connector, connecting the mainboard to the screen broke!!!!
Warranty out the window and now i use it as a paper weight. Hope this helps or atleast shows you what not to do!

:D hehe, thanks for the reply. I broke my p910i the same way lol, just that my scroll wheel on the side didnt want to work and ended up breaking off the lcd cable /o\

From what I understand of the soldering is that the contact may have gone faulty / dry joint / broken off and they then solder it. Unless the route the audio takes first passes though the speaker and then gets transfered to the USB headset, I doubt that it could be the same problem. It just seems that the volume on this device is at like 0.5 % at max rather than 100%
