I recently purchased an HTC Magic from DionWired, I noticed that the software keyboard didn't really recognise my touches properly (in portrait mode) so I went to the keyboard calibration feature to try and get it to recognise my keypresses better.
This helped with the overall recognition, but I always had trouble with pressing the letter 'P' and the backspace key on the far right hand side of the screen. I am 100% sure the center of my finger from the perspective of a pressure point that my finger causes is in the center of the key. Only if I move my finger just to the left of the letter 'P' does it recognise that I've presesd the button. Comparatively, the letters on the left hand side of the screen recognise properly.
I redid the calibration to make sure it wasn't just that, but low and behold, the problem persisted. I noticed that it was not just limited to the software keyboard. In menus and other applications, the phone did not seem to register my presses on the far right hand side of the screen properly; such as when you're browsing the menu.
I phoned Leaf and spoke to a technician and told me that this behaviour is indeed not normal. He told me to send it back and that the screen was misaligned. I have also searched around the net but this is not a common problem. No people complaining about not being able to hit the letters on the right hand side of the screen. No amount of calibration can fix this problem as the screen is simply not responsive in that area.
I took it back to DionWired on the 3rd day and requested another unit. They filled out the form and sent it to Vodacom in JHB. I am now waiting for a response from them.
Has anyone had any bad experiences with them sending back the phone and saying that it is okay when the screen still has a problem?
If they do, what actions can I take? Advice would be appreciated
