I'm looking for a smart phone of a affordable contract. I like the HTC meteor but need a bit more info such as:
- is there a upgrade on the software to allow you to edit MS office documents?
- Can you view emails in HTML formats?
- Web browsing, what are the limits? Can I work on secure webpages when editing my website?

Overview

The HTC MTeoR 3G Smartphone takes a giant leap forward for mobile phones as the world’s first 3G Microsoft ® Windows Mobile ® 5.0 Smartphone. Its slim and compact design makes it the ultimate pocket handset.
Highlights

* World’s first 3G Microsoft Windows Mobile 5.0 Smartphone.
* Slim, stylish and smooth candy-bar design.
* Instant access to emails, calendar and contacts.
* View your Word, Excel, PowerPoint and PDF documents on the go.
* Sync with your PC to get video, music and pictures, and then play them back anytime.
* Advanced connectivity and portability, including Micro SD memory and built-in Bluetooth ®.
* Single-hand controlled jog-wheel for user friendly navigation.

Not sure about web browsing or web editing - think you'll need something more beefier, like the HTC S710 or HTC TyTN II. You can always try to load Opera Mini and use that for browsing. (I did so with my Nokia 6600).

I'm looking at the HTC S710 at the moment - want to buy it.

I'm not sure as the S710 does is not 3G enabled. I like the TyTN II but can't afford it. I've been warned not to go for any phone that does not support 3G.

I've also heard that there is an upgrade that can be downloaded to enable you to edit office documents. Been searching on google all day but not yet found anything.

GPRS or EDGE will suffice for myself - as I will be utilizing the wifi functionality of the phone to keep connected at home or the office.

I don't know about said update.

Your solution then would be to buy an Eee PC with WinXP and Office2003 installed, as most WindowsCE mobiles use pocket office.
