I've been updated to new android version, 5. I wanted to root my phone now, but get this message: "There is no SU binary installed, and SuperSU cannot install it. This is a problem!

If you just upgraded to Android 4,3, you need to manually re-root - consult the relevant forums for your device!"

Problem is, I'm a real noob. I had followed the instructions to root the phone, step by step from a youtube video. They didn't mention this issue.

Could it be because of the new software, version 5? I've gone to XDA, but it all sounds greek to me.

I'd like to install an auto clicker, but it says your phone needs to be rooted.

Any advice? Help? If I can't root yet, how do I undo what I've done? Lol

Sorry, real noob here! Thanks

No help? Please? I've tried another site. They rooted after Lollipop came out, so should be the latest version. Still get same message. Really need help please

The best place to find that sort of info will be xda. That being said, Lollipop changed the security mechanisms inherent to Android, meaning one-click solutions don't work anymore.

Best bet would be to install a custom recover, and flash the latest SuperSU zip file. have a look here.

Thanks. I've joined XDA and waiting for a response there. Thanks

I reset the phone to factory reset (thought maybe something got mixed up) and it worked! I now have root access and the app I wanted to use, works just fine. It was a bit glitchy at first (random typing and opening apps. I restarted phone twice and it seems better. If not, I'll have to see what's going on. Thanks guys

The more I do, the more I seem to mess it up. I need to find someone to help get it back to stock I guess. I wanted to unroot, but I can't see any files on my phone (I've tried to follow the unroot steps I found when googling). On my PC it shows 3 folders and they're all 3 empty. I'm not going to ever root again. Not worth the frustrations. None of my apps are working - won't open. IF anyone here is in Durban, I"ll pay you to fix, please?!

Follow this guide.

THanks a ton guys.

I have rooted many of my previous samsungs. Then went over to BB and then to iPhone. Why I haven't done it in ages. And I wanted that auto clicker app lol.

Everything seems to be working on it today. It seems to have "settled". Only thing is that a few of my apps are not working, but reading about it it seems that some apps prevent you from running it when rooted. So I'm waiting for Xposed to be released for Lollipop.

For now I'll leave it rooted.

Thanks again

Btw, what does S-Off mean?

Also, when I plug my HTC phone into my PC, the phone shows up as a portable media player and shows only three folders in the internal storage (nero sync; android and ringtones). Anyone know how I can get all folders to show up? I've ensured all folders show hidden files, I've deleted and reinstalled htc sync. Nothing helped

This. Seriously mate, Google search appended with site:forum.xda-developers.com really is beneficial.

Check this under the storage settings for your device. It's probably mounting in PTP mode.

It doesn't come with the option to change unfortunately. It seems it has been disabled (from reading on other forums)

Bummer. Just did the check to see if my phone is S-Off or On and it's S-On. They say that the guide is not meant for you if your phone is S-On.

Rooting is only for the brave - personally I will never run stock and root from day one.

The above guide should return you to stock without any issues.
Failing that - http://theunlockr.com/2014/06/08/how-to-unroot-the-htc-one-m8-video/

That's the link I was following. Dead easy to follow. But the problem is when I open my cellphone on the PC, it doesn't show the folders on the phone. It's set to only show media files. I've googled and it seems it's a problem many has. I've tried some of the suggestions, but no luck. I still can't see it. Until I do, I can't use this guide unfortunately. And the second link is a dud. The file has been removed. Oh well, I'm still searching. Thanks
