HTC One is the phone I want, only problem is this:
S4 comes with 700mb and a service plan, so if it breaks or liquid damage, Samsung replaces it.

HTC One is limited in the country, no service plan and 200mb.

Will I be able to survive the month on 200mb's?
I have wifi at home and at the office.

You should be fine with 200mb if you have wifi at home and office.

I'm thinking that, and If I go driving out like 70-80kms on GPS? Does the GPS have saved maps on the phone, or is it downloading from online?

Google maps caches maps for offline use doesnt it? so if i understand correctly, you can map out the route while on wifi, then the tiles are automatically cached to your phone/sd card, should save you a bundle

Ya you can cache maps on google maps and also set the phone to only update your apps when you on a wifi connection.
So 200 mb with be plenty for your emails and browsing and misc data use until you get home.

But the convenience of the S4 service plan may be a more temping offer.

But I dunno I think I would go for the HTC anyway. Like the iPhone ( and I am no iFan) things just seems to work better, smoother.

Easy. The HTC One.

More difficult would be HTC One or Xperia Z.

If you want durability take the Z.

Just download your area of interest in Google Maps (google it :D ). I recently downloaded the Cape peninsula map and it was like 80-odd MB or something. They limit you to a certain amount of MB that you can download.

Once the file is downloaded you have acess to that map offline.

I dropped my One X quite a few times, with no case or anything on, and only hav a scratch or 2 to show for it, still works like a dream. There's a reason they have the "free" accident insurance with the S4, cos it breaks so easily

The HTC for sure. It's the only Android phone I didn't have to root to get it working like it should. BTW, I come from a Galaxy S2.

Okay awesome, been looking obsessing for the passed 2 days - I'll get the HTC One :) and download the maps that I need. That's my primary concern.

@swift-wp; I'm also coming from the S2! I'll order it on Monday!

BTW is the Vodacom Smart S the best value for money price deal to get, or is there something I'm not aware of?

PS: Xperia Z is a great phone too!

Google maps cache kinda removed from latest apps. Also getting the HTC ONE but looking at purchase via Orange site (best price)

For your maps request I would advise Getting an online GPS apps for best result.

Bought Sygic 2 years ago, never regreted it.

It's still there. There is just a trick to using it.

As much as I love HTC (my last 3 phones have all been HTC), that Samsung ADH warranty is pretty irresistible.
