Just got this phone - just got 3 questions from someone that hasn't had an HTC before ....

.... is there anyway to disconnect 3G easily? It seems to be logged in all day which eats battery :/

... HTC weather. How often does it refresh? Is it possible to have it connect, sync, disconnect occasionally?

... anyway program or way to map a shortcut to a button? My old Samsung had quick shortcuts (1 button - either a press or hold) that anything (even a program) could be assigned to.

Thanks!

Are you running the standard HTC Rom?

Yea I guess - got it Saturday and haven't touched anything ;)

EDIT : You're saying that's the issue? ;)

Your first question I've asked before and haven't got an answer.

The other 2 I can't remember, but if you read the manual the answers are there :)

No no, just asking because the various ROM's have different ways of addressing the issues that you raised. To be honest, I haven't had a stock HTC ROM on mine in such a long time that i cant really think of how to answer your questions correctly. At the moment I'm running this Rom: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=551642 latest 3.00 version with the Titanium panel layout.

Give me some time to look at the stock ROM again and I'll what answers I can get for you.

don - maybe gary will help us with an easy way to disconnect :P

Holding 'home' brings up a quick list with power off, lock, task man, comms man and profiles. It'd be great if I could add Internet to the list?

How about snooze in the alarm? An option Im missing somewhere?

I know im being finicky though ,,, just gt used to it with the old Samsung

Ok I have a Touch Pro 2 which is a Pocket PC and as I understand, the Snap is a smartphone so things might work a little differently on mine.
But it may help you anyway so here goes.

I normally assign the long end call press to this function.
Settings -> Personal -> Buttons -> End Key -> Select "Terminate data connection"
Now when you press and hold the end call button, it should disconnect the 3G

My phone uses Manila, so I can't be sure how yours works. But I should think that when you open the weather application and see the 5-day view, there should be something under "Menu" to get to the settings for this.

Not too sure about this on Smartphone, sorry :(

Thanks Charlie ... can't see that option here :/ Ah well ...

I must say I really do love this phone. I ordered my BB Bold 9700 on Saturday and they said stock towards the end of the month - so I bought a Snap to tide me over for 2 weeks.

They have just told me by Bold has arrived ... and Im not as ecstatic to collect it because of this!
