Im looking at maybe(Just maybe) buying this phone. Looks super cool. Could only find a thread about the Htc diamond, so thaught maybe we can discuss the phone here?
Anybody got one yet? Whats the best deal out? etc etc...:)

I dont have that vodacom pamphlet here with me now but if im not mistaken they were offering it free on a business contract for R450 pm.

Vodacom have the HTC Touch Pro for R409 a month with no pay in. Probably vodacom's only good deal right now.

At the end of this review, we're back where we left off. The Touch Pro and the Diamond just go together. In the face of Touch Pro, the Diamond has lost some of its one-of-a-kind design-driven edge and gained elsewhere (beside the waistline). It's not the most obvious QWERTY add-on only: the TV-out port, better battery and microSD card slot sound just as sweet. It's not as simple as "we liked the Diamond, so we like the Touch Pro even better". It just so seems the Touch Pro comes closer to the definitive PocketPC concept.

Anyway, it's time to draw the line and, from what our experience shows, the Touch Pro quite deserves every penny you spend on it. The price tag is hefty but it's worth noting that HTC Touch Pro costs less than the TyTN II used to upon release. There is no better device on the market in this class (yet) and if this is the kind of phone you are after - just go for it.

The good news for all the rest is that there's choice. The HTC Touch Diamond and the Samsung Omnia make pretty good keyboard-less alternatives.

Needless to say, the Touch Pro is still to receive its trial by fire. The Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1 will also have its say on the market success of the Pro. Now, that's good news for all of us: an exciting clash awaits.

This phone looks really impressive, I'm just not sure whether it's worth the money though. I need a phone that will enable me to run my website's when I'm on the road. updating blogs, reading e-mails, doing research etc etc

Doesn't seem to do anythng when i click on the where to buy tab

and
Nashua is offering it on MTN Anytime 1500 for R2100 pay in.

Please, Please, PLEASE!

I cannot re-itterate it enough - DO NOT TOUCH NASHUAMOBILE!
They're scum, they're illeterate and not worth the hassles you will incur!
I have only (if ever) on rare occasions heard about them being competent.
My personal experience with them was as I mentioned here - scum and useless!

My problem with the X1 is that it won't have the XDA-Developer support that the Touch Pro has.

and for me that is a biggie.

The best deal, though it is a bit expensive, is the Anytime350 package for R529 with a free HTC Touch Pro from MTN.

After doing some searching I also found that is indeed the best deal. That's bloody expensive thoough but much better than the vodacom deal becasue of the R350 airtime included. Over the 24 month period you would have paid R12 696 for the deal. Of which R8400 whould have been airtime. Which if my maths is correct will mean you payed R4296 for the free phone.

Why do they have to make all the great phones so damn expensive. I currently have a Samsung Z540( yah yah...) and should have gone for upgrade about 5 -6 months ago but have been saving my upgrade for something special.

Edit: Been reading through the HTC diamond thread some more and it doesn't look like there's anybody on the forum who has the pro yet.

I dont really think the review on gsmarena is that great. I didnt read the whole review though. After reading the first page with the Pros and Cons I already made up my mind. Its not for me.

The samsung omnia is looking like a good alternative...if I could call it that.
R319 per month seems more in my budget.hehe

Is it just me or is there a massive difference between vodacom and mtn prices. Vodacom was charging something like R848 pm for the Omnia!!
I'm currently on Vodacom but MTN looks like the better option

I've been with MTN since 1994. They really do have the best deals.

My opinion: I really think the 3 currently available phones that are really the best are the Xperia, Omnia and N96. And the deals on them arent bad either. The problem is I need something to replace my E90.

That is something I'm not going to get into again. They bring out new ROMS too quickly on xda-developers. You install a new ROM and in a weeks time, sometime faster, a new ROM arrives and you install the latest one everytime. In future I will only install a new ROM on a major release. That's if I'm getting a WM device.

I must agree, the Touch Pro is a nice phone. I'll be getting one next week to play with for the whole week. And also the Xperia, Omnia and N96.

I mean, how do you decide which phone to take by only looking at specs and pictures on paper??
