Today I decided to go get all the bits for my new TyTn, I was under the impression that Vodaworld Midrand is a 1stop cellular mall ........ NOT !

As far as TyTn accessories go the only things I could find was a 1x sloppy gell case and overpriced memory.

I stood in the Vodashop for 30min's and had better response from V3G on pricing than from the staff.

If they had giving me all the stuff I wanted I would have paid the inflated prices and left, knowing that at least they did not waste my time.

No screen protectors, no cases and after looking at the 2GB Micro SD 30 min waiting for them to release the lock on the shelve the R 1049 was starting to look a bit much.

Metro was R 1200 ....... the cheapest turned out to be the little hole in the wall installer stall @ R800.

Not being able to get what I want I walked out.

So the question is ....... do you really have to order everything via the internet if you want the good stuff and cheap prices ?

So where to go for screen protectors, cases, memory and other accessories ?

yeah, I bought just about all my accessories of eBay. That would be why i'm still waiting for most of it to pitch up. Luckily my GPS receiver came today. only 2 weeks!

For the Jozi boyz PDA Shop are decently priced ... give them a call ..

Gave them a call they only have (R270) 1GB SD Micro at the moment, but will have (R400) 2GB on Tues next week. It might not be Sandisk, but Lynnwood Rd is close by and if it craps out they will get a visit.

They have Adapt screen protectors for R60, guess I will take one untill the Martin Fields one arrives.

Presume they have loads of other goodies as well .......... recon my CC will be pap when I walk out of there.

Computer Corporation has SB 1GB for R255, not bad either and they are 2 clicks down the road and all over the country.

Correction:

Dear Sir,

2GB MicroSD Card we are selling for R500 incl. VAT
1GB MicroSD Card for R270 incl. VAT

It will be only available after 17th.

Best regards,
PDAShop Product Sales and Services Team

While you there ask them to give you the handymap trial ... they got a range of GPS receivers at good prices toooo ...

Installed handymap yesterday. It rocks. the flippen chick keeps tuning me that i'm driving too fast though.:D
But you can download the trial of the internet. Also look at bidorbuy for GPS receivers. Got mine from ebay.

SD Micro card shape .........

Just a quick heads up, I tried the SD Micro memory on sale at Computer Corporation and there seems to be a slight difference in the form factor.

Will have a look at PDA Shop stock when it is received.

It goes into the slot a bit tight and you k@k to get it out again, but it works. Seems it has an additional piece of plastic not present on the Transflash cards (on the RH side of the card it does not have the same shape as the LH side).

So try it before you buy it or make sure it looks like the dummy one that came with you're TyTn.

Which GPS are you using ?

Who, what, where, when, how much ?

I have Holux GPSlim 240. Paid $100 total on ebay and R50 import duties. Took ten days to get here. Its in the PDAshop webpage if you want to take a look. Just as big as my little finger. amazing, really.

whar sort of case are you looking for? I don't know if you'll get anything locally, but I just got my PDAir aluminum case off ebay, and it's working quite well. You looking for a leather case or pouch? If you're looking for scratch protection case get the www.bestskinsever.com case. Don't know wether that one will help much if you dropped it though.

It is difficult. I know some people have had reception issues, but luckily i'm not one of them. Must still test the bluetooth though.

I guess something like a crystal case would be cool. Those rubber things don't fit well and they look like industrial condoms.
