HTC TyTN II (Codename: Kaiser)

This is indeed a topic for Tytn2 :) Was just to lazy to type in the extra 2... So yes he has the Tytn Two/Kaiser/Tilt, etc. etc.

I was beginning to think I had a faulty unit when I noticed the poor battery life of the TyTN II.
If you plan to use GPS in a car then I think a car charger is a must. Switch the phone to GSM only if you don't need high speed data or video calling. Terminate data connections when you are finished using them (look for a utility called KaiserTweak). Turn down the backlight.
I find it rather silly that the phone comes with absolutely no GPS software (in South Africa anyway). Not even a utility to check that GPS works.

Got my TyTN II yesterday, and spent the better part of last night trying to get used to it. Compared to a normal cellphone, this is complicated to the extreme.
Having no GPS is a serious omission, as it is advertised as a GPS Receiver equipped device.
Garmin have stated that they intend having firmware available by the end of January, or early February. It will include the latest maps. Costs are in the region of ZAR1000-00. Steep, but it is a life-time licence.

Just to avoid confusion for some, the Tytn II does have a GPS receiver but doesn't come with software to access it

There's lots of free software that you can download to test.... or even trial versions

Just to clarify further: The TyTN II that we get here in SA does not come with GPS/Navigation software.

Yeh...we been discussing that in another thread... I'm not to worried though...someone will release a rom enabling that.

Hi Guys , im getting my Tytn 2 today ! cant wait even did an early upgrade at 19months ! wel anyway i just thought that it would be nice for all of you who have sourced cool aps for the phone to perhaps post the links on the forum in a new topic for all Tytn 2 users to check out/ download. And perhaps one of you generous souls could put them into a nice category for us.

I do have a link to share but perhaps someone with a bigger list can start a new thread for it.

http://www.smartphone-freeware.com/ :D<----- lotsa stuff all freeware:D

PS. i tired searching this forum for something similar but i couldnt find it, so if it does indeed exist, my apologies and pls supply the link

This is THE place for HTC TyTN II (aka Kaiser) information, downloads and discussions. I've downloaded so many apps and customized my TyTN II quite a lot, based on information available in those forums. There really is a wealth of information, but you do need quite a bit of free time on your hands to read through it all ;)

I would suggest caution with this site. It can be a bit of a minefield for a newbie and an oldbie for that matter.

I'm running the HTC WM6.1 ROM...

Leaf seems to be a bit behind the times.
