Black Shadow

Hi All.

I am new to the TyTN family. Just a quick Q. If I update the HTC to the Black Shadow rom and I do not like it or it does not meet my requirements, can I reinstall everything using the LEAF rom update? :confused: I know this is most probably a DUH moment for me but I would like to know before I update

Well thanX!!! :) Um another duh Q. My 3G does not seem to work. MTN says it is because I have a 3G card. I read about 90 pages before asking this Q so sorry if this was answer in the other 70. But I need help and LEAF and MTN disagrees about this. SIM Card works in other phones.

Leaf says it is the Sim and MTN says it is the PHONE using the sim

What are you trying to do with your 3g? And why are you saying it's not working?

I have a VERY old 64K simcard in my phone... it's about 4 years old or something... and i have 3G speeds....

Welcome!

Have you checked whether HSCSD is loaded? A phone call to MTN should sort that one out or even a PM to snakepit.

I have a 3G card which gives me HSDPA with no problems... :)

Where computer hardware usually works at a 100% cpu during upgrading etc... it's ALSO working exactly this hard each time it's switched on or rebooted...

Rebooting hardware puts it under a bit of pressure... and i have found that in general ... if your hardware is gonna fail - it usually does so during the Setup or Bootup procedure. (And i'm sure NOBODY EVER reboots their tytn :) )

I really can't think of any other reasons why your TyTN/JasJam will get worn out because you're putting new clothes on it.. it's not like the Flash Eprom will start to strike or anything...?? is it?

I might be wrong.... enlighten us with details should there be proof of this.

I think i've flashed mine like probably 20 times now... the USB cable disconnected once at 58%, once at 5% and once at 98%... it also froze up at 99% once...

It's still going strong... i also dropped it the other day while it was raining onto wet tar... it bounced a metre high, fell down again, the battery and it's cover went flying in one direction...phone in the other... everything was wet...and there was a little scratch on the one corner.

Still works.

If dropping it in the rain onto tar doesn't kill it... i can care less about what "loading software onto the Eprom" is gonna do to it

I have flashed about my RADIO about 7 times, to try find the best one.

I have flashed my ROM close 20 times aswell.

I have dropped it twice, and this phone is still going strong as hell!

Now, I can't understand how frequent ROM flashes shorten lifespan. JJ and the team would've mentioned something. So I dont know where u get ur info from...

After a couple days of Shadow, im convinced its the best rom as of yet.
 
When I used to use 02Plus and SPB products, all the time.. Especially with my New SMS softkey button - i used to press it and nothing would open.

I've removed all that shte, just have the Home Plugin and no more freezes, nothing any more!

What Today plugins do u have installed? it could be that
 
That's why Shadow LE runs amazingly smooth! The lest software installed onto the device the better, especially with your Today plugins. I noticed a big diff after i uninstalled all those apps.
 
Just experienced my very first SOD today. It noticed this right after getting out of the cinema.

I'm not sure what could be the problem cause I removed all Spb apps.

Anyway, I wonder if there is a way of getting rid of the security questions in the MIDlet manager? Its really starting to get on my nerves.

Elias, i would recommened you to do the same thing aswell. Flash you rom (promise, i really dont think your lifespan will shorten), and then install the bare minimal.

That's i did, and ive been running Shadow with no reset for almost 4 days now..
 
damn damn damn. Since I installed shadow, I can't see my storage card anymore! am going to have to go back :(
 
ClearView greyed-out in Landscape mode

Hi guys

I cant select ClearView in land scape mode. When I use land scape the font is just too horrible to bear with. At first I thought it was designed to be like that until I went to:

Start/Settings/System/Screen/Landscape (left-handed)/ClearType
I cant select 'Enable CleareType' selection cause its greyed out:(
Is there a way of enabling this or any other different application? Or is this a standard thing (for it to be greyed out)?
