HTC TyTN / Imate JasJam

So guys.....what you think: should i get the htc tytn, or wait for the n95 ???

Depends on what you're looking for. If you are looking for an ultra versatile pocket pc, get the TyTn. If you are looking for a phone with plenty of media capabilities, get the nokia. The nokia will probably give you less stress, but for playing around, the TyTn is king.

The jetware app listed earlier should address this issue. There is a known problem with the TyTn disconnecting from bluetooth car sets, but the jetware app extends the bluetooth functionality to cancel this out.

People generally seem to be happy with Parrot car kits.

Please let me know where I can get the Jetware app from? I currently have a plantronics bluetooth headset and get disconnected calls all the time.

Windows Mobile Junkie,

I lost all my notes...

And i lost my applications

and all the "automatic text" used for typing SMSs or emails or whatever is also lost after i did the PIM reinstall thing

The most important is the Contacts/Calendar/Tasks stuff tho... so it's not THAT bad!!

But still... it's not a "100%" backup/restore procedure tho

Sorry bud i thought you where on the Same page as me .. the procedure was for PIM backup only ... ( calendar, contacts, tasks ... )
your notes, word docs etc should be saved to a memory card ... when installing additional applications it is advisable to install them onto a storage card as well .. So if push comes to shove and you have to reset your device you have access to your PIM info .. and the apps installed can be run staright off the memory card ... all while you are miles away from your PC ..

The procedure was not meant to be a device backup ... remember if you do have a bug or corrupt registry and you do a full device backup ( your device gets cloned with the errors) you will end up back at the place you started .. restoring the initial problem ...

Can anyone recommend a hands free bluetooth carkit to use with the TyTn, I've heard that nokia ones give feedback?

Awesome phone!

Your local sound installer should be able to help you here ... i dont use car kits cos everyone else can listen in on your conversation ... my girlfriends cant know about each other .. i dont think they will feel as special after that ..
I use the i-Tech clip IIs headset .. great for calls and listening to music via bluetooth stereo ...
Visit your local car sound installer and test the car kits before you hand out any cash for the hardware ...

I removed some cab files related to installed programs. Now when I reboot it remains on the Windows Mobile screen. Even when I press the Power button for 5 seconds or more, nothing happens. A soft reset is what it takes to restart but the process repeats.

I then try to boot into safe mode (which seems to be a combination of pressing the OK button on the left a number of times before the Windows Mobile screen appears). It then tells me to press the action key to boot into safe mode. I press the key with the Windows sign on it and then the screen goes blank. However the green light (the one on top on the left) continues to blink green as per normal. I have left it like this for about 5 minutes and no change.

Soft reset then a box titled "Safe Mode Menu" appears in the Windows Mobile screen and in there is written "Booting into safe mode...". Wait another 5 minutes. Nothing.

I am thinking of doing a hard reset at the moment.

I would suggest hard resetting your device ... do you know which CAB files you removed ???

I'm looking for something like the Jabra BT3500 or JX10 .... 1st and 2nd prize.

Can't find stock anywhere. Would like to see and try on the bloody thing before buying it.

The Jawbone is an interesting design, but out of stock at present and moer expensive.

The Caller ID screen on the BT3500 means I can keep my phone in the pouch.

Sending a vCard with the TyTN

Anybody battling to send a vCard with the TyTN?

When on contact - select contact - menu - Send as VCard

Problem is it send the vCard as MMS and not SMS. I can't find any setup screen where this is set.

Will the AKA3 + solve it or is there another way?

VCard will not go through on SMS ... the VCARD via MMS was added on Mobile 5.0

So in Bill Gate's world everybody (including my oom in Springbok) owns a MMS enable phone?

Any ways around this (except for copy&paste or reading the number to my oom?)

Correction. AKU 3.x allows vCard sending via SMS. Just checked mine, it works.

so it looks like good ol bill does think about oom in springbok ...

If someone sends you a Business/vCard, is it received as an MMS. A friend of mine has sent me two that I have not received as of Sunday.
