HTC TyTN / Imate JasJam

Ah right. Downloaded the ROM from the Leaf site. Will just update to XDA Live from here.

GO to www.leaf.co.za if you are not registered - register and get a username/password. Then download the latest released ROM file from them.

- Connect your phone to your XP machine with the USB cable
- Press and hold the OK button and the POWER button while pressing the stylus reset pin at the bottom (to get to the 3 colour boot mode)
- Your PC should see a usb device here
- run the EXE file from Leaf

That's what i did to fix it... took about 25mins

yep, and then go through the whole mission again. Radio 1.34 first, then any ROM you might feel like flashing.

So i just finished reading a whole forum thread on the built-in GPS chip inside your JasJam/TyTN.

It's really amazing how HTC obviously wanted to include GPS in this device as well... but then after reading 22 pages of another forum - and seeing how many ppl disassembled their phones, from drilling holes, to wanting to glue external soldered filters and PC boards on the inside to activate the GPS Chip inside the JasJam/TyTN....it turned out that the experiment was a sad failure .... basically the GPS chip would need some extra hardware and power to work...

I guess HTC wanted to include GPS in this version - but never finished some finer details.... so the chip is on the motherboard - but the same motherboard will be used in a future phone to be released by them

... at least now i know i have a GPS phone (even tho all of it is disabled) :)

just thought i'd mention it....

About GPS:

yeah, it's sad that they didn't enable it. However buying a bluetooth GPS reciever is still much cheaper than getting a full Garmin ot TomTom system. www.pdashop.co.za has a special on buying a GPS + maps for R1300 or something, if i remember correctly.

Ok finished flashing the original ROM. Ran the HardSPL. Then ran the 1.35. It seems to be doing its thing now. Next step XDA Live 0.20.

I have to say I did have a very small concern all could be lost. But the fact i could see the bootloader kept me hopefully that one could bring it back.

I'm busy uploading XDA Rom 0.20 to my little Box account listed below.

It wouldn't accept files bigger than 10mb - so there are 5 rar files. Simply put them all in one directory and unrar the 1st one.

(I'm assuming if you're "crazy" enough to want to flash to a new rom, you'd have something like winRAR installed already on your computer)

Wow the upgrade to xda was pretty quick. Took under 5 minutes. Loving it.

ROM: 3.22.110.1
ROM Date: 01/04/07
Radio: 1.35.00.11

I notice there is no ExtROM listed.
